Knowledge is a bitter pill to swallow
Not the kind that aids you in a skill
But the deep kind that leaves you hollow
Acknowledgement that makes you want to turn time's wheel
Because where you are is not what you wanted
Not who you are or what you ever envisioned
Your broken heart having to accept every situation
Hoping and praying that's where you were led with intuition
Years pass by with more acceptance
Gone by with learned patience
One fateful day you look at where you are
You look back to see how far
And it hurts all over again
By how much accepting you had to do in pain
This is not what I wanted
Not what I envisioned
With deep sorrow and longing, snot and tears
You put aside your pain and fears
Because even though so much time has gone
You have to let go and find a way to move on
