"Yn would you like to have lunch with me?" Yn nodded, a bit confused how the top of the class, some argue the top of the school, had approached him for lunch. Light Yagami was said to be a loner and a player but that never stopped him from gaining emense popularity. Yn gathered his belongings and headed out with Yagami. Whispers and stares surrounded yn and Yagami. Some said Yagami had taken pity on Yn for being the poorer of the class when it comes to academics. (Or friends.) "𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘴𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘓𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘺𝘯." They arrived at a small cafe. One that the pair would often visit separately.

Light POV
Ryuk was to my right. It took a lot to not glance over at him. I wouldn't want to make it obvious that me and yn weren't alone. I pick up the menu and look at it. I've been here before, I do not need to look. Glancing up at yn I see how he awkwardly shifts in his seat. Could he not like me? I need him to be my friend. All normal guys my age have friends. Everyone has friends. Only Kira would be a loner. 𝑰 𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒃𝒐𝒕𝒉 𝒅𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒔𝒊𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆. I don't even bother looking at Ryuk. "So yn, how are you enjoying your schooling?" I put on a smile. Yn's response was very laid back. He seemed very chill but could be serious if he needed to be. I think choosing him as my friend can benefit me a lot. "Do you need anything from me Yagami? I don't want to seem rude when saying this but I don't really understand why you're asking me out to lunch out of the blue when we've never really even acknowledged each other before." He chuckles. "Please, call me Light. I understand your confusion but I feel we'd be great friends." Was that to straight forward? How do people normally ask another to be friends with them? I don't know. Ryuk snickers and I can't help but wonder if I've said something wrong. No. I couldn't have. That was a perfectly reasonable response to yn's question. Having him call me on a first name basis removes the professional aspect and helps him become more comfortable around me like a friend. Yes. Yn seems tough but at the end of the day I know I can remain in control of every aspect of this new friendships. "Great friends? I suppose so." "Great. I'd love to get to know you better than yn. Let me give you my number" Yn hands me his phone and I put my number in it. I call myself from his phone and add him as a contact. "It's getting late I should head back home before my mother worries. Let's hang out again soon yn." I send him a small smile before covering the tab and then heading out to the street. "𝑻𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒔𝒏'𝒕 𝒕o𝒐 𝒃𝒂𝒅" "Not bad at all Ryuk." On my way home I step inside the local market and grab some apples. I check out and hold the brown paper sack in my hand walking towards my home. "I'm home." I yell out. Setting down the sack and taking off my bag. I place it on the hook and slide off my shoes. Grabbing the bag once again I head further into the house. "Oh light it's good to see you!" "Where's dad?" "He's stuck at work for a bit longer." I nod and go up the stairs reaching my room. Ryuk helps himself to some apples. "It's a shame we had to cut our lunch. Really it was more of a dinner." I message yn. He responds back rather quickly with a simple "Yeah. Tell me more about yourself Light." I wonder... what should I tell him? Maybe he knows of my father being an officer of the law. Should I tell him how my father is on the Kira case? Does he have any interest in such things? Maybe if I open up a tiny bit, nothing to crazy, something I can control. Perhaps I can tell him about how I wish to. Yes that works. Then he'll see my ambitions and goals making me more trustworthy. Normally I shouldn't tell anyone about my dad's work because it can be classified. I feel that yn is to simple minded to analyze to much of it.

Yn POV
"I'm not sure if you know about my family but my father is on the Kira case. I want to help my father in catching Kira. That is my goal." My phone lights up with Light's message. "are you on the case as well?" "I am." I look around my room. "That's dangerous but you're doing it for a good reason. Good luck and if you need anything let me know." I tell him that but I know he can't get anything useful from me. Despite this being out of the blue and very random, I do think this friendship could be good. Light seems like a very nice guy when you put away the whole player thing. It would be nice to have a friend. My phone lights up and I pick it up. "Let's hang out tomorrow. It is a Saturday and I probably won't have to work on the case much tomorrow." I'm curious about how the department is working to catch Kira. Once we become better friends maybe he'll tell me. For now tho I don't think I should pry. Glancing over at the clock it's felt like only a couple minutes have passed since me and Light had been messaging. The clock read two hours past since the first message. I'll talk to him more in the morning. I close my textbook and turn out my desk lamp. Crawling into bed and closing my eyes I fall asleep.

Light invites yn to go to lunch. Light figured that he'd be suspected as Kira if he didn't have many friends. Of course Light had friends but he never really hung out with them unless needed. Having a friend who he'd spend lots of time with could leave him with a good alibi while he could just schedule kills. He gains yn's number and they successfully start a friendship. Light opens up about his goals to catch Kira in hopes that yn would trust him more. Yn and Light make plans to hang out again the next day.
