Epilogue
The quiet summer afternoon was perfect. The warm breeze drifted through the open windows of the cottage, carrying the scent of blooming wildflowers. Harry sat in the living room, absentmindedly flipping through the Daily Prophet while Y/N was curled up beside him, reading a book. The house was calm, a rare and peaceful moment with the children playing outside.
But that peace was suddenly interrupted by a flurry of footsteps, followed by a loud knock at the door. Harry raised an eyebrow, but before he could get up, the door flew open and their daughter, Lily, burst inside, her face flushed with excitement.
“Mum! Dad!” she yelled, her voice filled with the kind of joy only a child can muster. “It’s here! It’s here!”
In her hand, she waved a thick envelope, cream-colored with a familiar wax seal. Harry immediately recognized the Hogwarts crest, and a smile tugged at the corners of his lips. Y/N’s eyes lit up as she set her book aside and sat up straight.
Lily raced toward them, nearly tripping over her own feet in her excitement. “It’s my Hogwarts letter!” she exclaimed, thrusting the envelope toward her parents. “I got it! I’m going to Hogwarts!”
Harry took the letter, smiling down at his daughter, who was practically vibrating with anticipation. “I knew you would,” he said, his voice soft with pride. He handed it to Y/N, who carefully opened the envelope and pulled out the letter inside.
“Dear Miss Lily Potter,” Y/N read aloud, her voice full of warmth. “We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry…”
Lily’s eyes shone with excitement, and she let out a squeal of delight, throwing herself into Harry’s arms. “I’m going to Hogwarts!” she repeated, almost as if she couldn’t believe it.
Harry hugged her tightly, feeling an overwhelming sense of pride. He exchanged a glance with Y/N, and for a moment, they shared an unspoken understanding—this was the beginning of something new, something they had both dreamed of for their children.
“You’ll have the best time,” Harry said, brushing a strand of red hair away from Lily’s face. “Just like we did.”
Y/N smiled, reaching over to gently squeeze Lily’s hand. “And we’ll help you with everything. We’ll get your books and robes, and—”
“Can we go to Diagon Alley today?” Lily interrupted, her eyes wide with excitement. “Please?”
Harry chuckled. “Alright, alright, we can go today.”
Lily’s face lit up with a grin, and she bounced on her heels, barely able to contain her joy. “Thank you, thank you!” she shouted before running out of the room to tell her brothers the news.
As the sound of her excited chatter echoed through the house, Harry leaned back in his chair, a soft smile on his face. Y/N looked over at him, her eyes twinkling. “Feels like just yesterday we were getting our letters,” she said.
Epilogue
As Lily raced out of the living room, her voice echoed through the house, quickly followed by the sound of hurried footsteps. Moments later, her brothers, James and Albus, came stumbling down the stairs, their faces just as excited as Lily’s. They had clearly overheard the news.
“Hogwarts, Lily!” James shouted as he bounded into the room. His messy black hair—just like Harry’s—was flopping in every direction. “You’re finally going to Hogwarts!”
Albus, always the quieter one, trailed after James but couldn’t hide the grin on his face. “It’s going to be amazing, Lily,” he added, his green eyes lighting up with pride for his younger sister.
Lily beamed, practically vibrating with excitement as she waved her Hogwarts letter. “I can’t wait! You’ll show me everything, won’t you?”
“Oh, we’ll do more than that,” James said, puffing out his chest in mock seriousness. “We’ll help you rule the castle, just like we did. Gryffindor legends, all of us.”
Albus rolled his eyes but couldn’t resist a smile. “James, you’re such an idiot.” With that, he reached over and smacked the back of James’s head, earning an indignant yelp.
“Oi! What was that for?” James grumbled, rubbing the spot where Albus had hit him.
“For giving Lily bad ideas,” Albus said dryly. “She doesn’t need to hear your nonsense about ‘ruling the castle.’” He shot his little sister a fond look. “Don’t listen to him, Lily. Just enjoy it. Hogwarts is brilliant, and you’re going to love it.”
Lily laughed, watching her brothers with a mixture of amusement and affection. “I’ll find my own way,” she said confidently, her red hair glinting in the evening light. “But maybe I’ll pull a few pranks along the way.”
Harry and Y/N exchanged a look, both amused and slightly exasperated. It was heartwarming to see the bond their children shared, even in their sibling rivalry. Y/N leaned over to Harry, whispering with a smirk, “Looks like Lily might give us even more trouble than the boys.”
Harry chuckled, shaking his head. “If she’s anything like James, we’ll have the staff writing us letters every week.”
The kids continued to chatter excitedly, throwing around ideas for what Lily should do once she arrived at Hogwarts—secret passages to explore, friends to make, and the best pranks to pull. The house buzzed with the kind of energy that only came from children on the brink of adventure.
As the conversation grew louder, Harry stood up, putting his arm around Y/N as they watched their children with a mix of pride and nostalgia. At this moment, everything felt perfect. Their family was whole, and as they prepared to send their youngest off to Hogwarts, they knew that this was just the start of a new chapter in their lives.
“Well,” Harry said with a smile, his voice warm with love, “looks like we’re heading to Diagon Alley today. Better get ready for some chaos.”
Y/N grinned, leaning into him. “With these three? Always.”
As the sun set outside, casting the world in a golden glow, the Potters stood together, their home filled with laughter and excitement, ready to send the next generation off to Hogwarts and whatever adventures awaited them.
And as the sun began to dip below the horizon, casting a warm glow over their quiet little cottage, Harry and Y/N sat together, filled with pride, knowing that this was just the start of Lily’s own adventure.
