Ah, Gravity Falls, Oregon. A little nothing town in the middle of nowhere. It also happens to be where I work for the summer. Or more specifically, The Mystery Shack. Which is run by an egocentric scam artist, but for some reason he's charismatic as well....in his own odd way.
Anyway, I currently work there with Wendy, this redheaded lumberjack. She's totally chill, and a year older than me. There's also Soos. He's unique to say the least, but you've gotta love him. I also heard from the boss, Stan, that his great niece and nephews are coming to join us tomorrow for the summer.
Which leads me to what I'm doing right now, cleaning out the attic for them to stay in. It was rather dingy, and kinda small, but I don't think they would mind. I started out by moving all the old boxes, which there were a lot of, an dI wouldn't exactly call them "light".
I grabbed one of the really heavy boxes and started to sort of waddle while I carried it, this would definitely mess up my back. Unfortunately, in my daring conquest to relocate them, I tripped..... I knocked over a whole tower of boxes, one of them falling on top of me and opening up, a bunch of stuff spilling out.
"Dang it..." I sighed as I started scooping the packing peanuts back into the box, but as I did, my hand grazed something. In my curiosity, I pulled it up out of the peanuts, looking at the small trinket. It was a metal earring. It was golden, and in the shape of a triangle with an oval hanging in the middle, reminded me of the deathly hallows.
As I looked at it, I couldn't help but feel like something was off about it, like it was staring at me. Regardless of any common sense, I decided to put it on. I slid out my left stud earring and put this new one in."What the..." As soon as I put it on, it was like I was in another world. Well, not exactly. It was still the attic of the mystery shack, but it was colored weird and far out I could see these odd mystical glows of creatures only thought of in fiction, but as I continued to look around, I began to understand. I wasn't in another world, no. I could finally see this one. My eyes were open to the weirdness around me.....
"This is totally awesome." I say before completely dismissing the idea.
"Gotta get this cleaned up." I spent the rest of my day cleaning out the attic and setting everything up for the newcomers. I didn't know what they were like so I just did the basics, they can add what they want later. Afterwards, I went back down, seeing Soos cleaning and Wendy at the counter.
""Hey Rockstar," I rolled my eyes at Wendy's nickname for me.
"Ya done cleaning?" She asked, not looking up from her phone.
"Yeah, no thanks to you, Vixie" I said while grabbing my stuff from on the floor behind the counter, not looking at her but knowing that she also rolled her eyes at my nickname.
"I'm heading out, tell the boss....or don't." I turn and start to walk out.
"Bye superstar!" "By Y/N" "Bye Wendy, Bye Soos!" I wave to them without turning around and set out.As I looked around on my way home I realized something. Everything is so different....so weird. I kinda like it. Maybe....weird is my thing.
