The bell above the door jingled as Sonic the Hedgehog zoomed into the quaint little florist shop, skidding to a stop just before knocking over a row of potted plants. He ran a hand through his quills, trying to shake off the embarrassment.
"Phew, that was close," he muttered, glancing around.
The scent of fresh flowers filled the air—roses, lilies, daisies, all perfectly arranged in colorful arrangements. He hadn't exactly expected to find himself in a place like this, but Amy had been hinting about flowers for weeks, and Sonic was one to always return gifts .
Just as he turned to ask the shopkeeper something, the door swung open with a gust of wind, and in strode stood the striking Naruto Uzumaki. Bright orange jacket, wild vibrant blond hair, and blue ocean eyes full of life, his eyes made you want to look for ages—he was the definition of energy in human form.
"Hey!" Naruto said with his bright large grin, scanning the shop as if on a mission. "You got any ramen flowers in here?"
Sonic blinked, staring at the newcomer. His heart did something weird a movement unforeseen, something it didn't normally do. a familiar feeling but such a distant envokement. Maybe it was the way Naruto smiled, or the burst of sunshine he seemed to carry with him. Or maybe it was those blue eyes that were somehow... enticing
Naruto caught Sonic staring and raised an eyebrow. "What's up with you, blue dude?"
Sonic coughed up awkwardly and rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. "Uh, nothing, just... caught in a stride. I'm Sonic."
Naruto laughed, stepping closer. "Yeah, i'm naruto. i'm here picking up flowers for my girlfriend sakura , but, uh..." His voice trailed off, his eyes meeting Sonic's more fully.
There was a pause, one of those moments where the world seemed to slow down and everything stopped. Sonic felt the warmth rising in his chest, and his quills tingled in a way they never had before. Naruto, too, seemed to falter for a second, his smile softening.
"Sakura, huh?" Sonic said, breaking the silence but not the connection between them. "Lucky girl."
"Yeah," Naruto replied, though his tone had shifted. His grin returned, but this time it was softer. "But maybe I've been looking in the wrong place all along."
Sonic's smirk grew, his eyes flashing with his usual cockiness. "Yeah? Well, maybe you have, blondie."
Naruto chuckled and took a step closer, the flowers around them framing the scene like something out of a daydream. Neither said a word, but something passed between them in the air—something fast and electric, like the wind whipping through Sonic's quills, or the rush of chakra Naruto felt during a battle.
"You're pretty quick, huh?" Naruto said, his voice a little lower, more serious now.
Sonic's grin widened. "Fastest there is."
"Well," Naruto leaned in slightly, a playful glint in his eye. "I think I can keep up."
And just like that, they both knew they were caught—no super speed, no jutsus could get them out of this one. But honestly? Neither of them really wanted to.
