OH, HE'S GOT ME WONDERING

‧₊˚🕯️🖤❀‧₊˚.

Raphael Milliken did not believe Hell existed ── until his pretentious parents enrolled him into Welton Academy at the fresh age of thirteen.

From being enrolled in the school, he believed he saw the devil personified within the body of the principal, an angry man named Gale Nolan, and the demerits were even worse. Boys heeded of each other from ever seeing the inside of his office and if they did, they would pray that the paddling wouldn't hurt that hard or hurt that much. Of course, they were all wrong. Otherwise, Welton Academy was okay-ish with five course meals (which was why half of the boys were enrolled there) and dorms they could decorate as freely as they wanted to. It was an alright deal for those who wanted to be world renowned scientists or excellent lawyers or teen boys who wanted to be isolated from their families and homes.

Anyone who wanted to be best of the best would attend Welton and go onto any Ivy League schools with a shit eating grin on their face.

Raphael thought it was total bullshit.

His parents, or just his father, were filthy rich from his stepmother's inheritance when her grandmother died and they were businesspeople too. Smooth talkers, as his cousins used to say, so why in the hell did they want him going off to Yale or Harvard? It was as if they had all the money in the world to do whatever they wanted to do, but they still pushed their children to do the most snotty thing in the world of education; be the best of the best ── "Esto optimus optimus," as his stepmother would say.

Anyways.

Filthy rich parents, prestigious schools, the pressure of everyone to be the best. It would be everyone's tipping point, but during Raphael's junior year, he began realizing that he was growing up faster than usual. His parents looked different in a certain spotlight and his younger stepsister looked different too. He was pretty sure that she was becoming an alcoholic, especially because of the pressure from their parents plus the fact she moved to a rival school, and another thing?

He was sure that his closest friend was falling in love with his stepsister too. And Raphael was surely falling in love with his roommate too.
