The dorm was unusually quiet for a Friday evening. Normally, the members of Stray Kids would be scattered around, either rehearsing, gaming, or caught in their usual playful arguments. tonight, all eyes were fixed on a single figure, and that was Lee Felix.
Felix was sitting on the couch, mindlessly scrolling through his phone, unaware of the gazes that followed his every movement. His blond hair glowed softly under the dim light of the living room, and the faintest hint of a smile played on his lips as he read something on his screen. He had this energy-this gravitational pull-that no one could explain, but everyone felt.
In the kitchen, Hyunjin and Minho stood by the counter, silently watching Felix. Hyunjin had started to pour himself a glass of water but was now completely still, eyes fixated on the younger boy. Minho, leaning against the counter with a lazy grin on his face, noticed.
"You're staring," Minho teased, not breaking his own gaze from Felix.
Hyunjin snapped out of his trance, faking a nonchalant laugh. "Am not. Just... thinking."
"Sure you are." Minho pushed off the counter and sauntered over to the living room, settling into the armchair right across from Felix. His presence, as always, commanded attention, but Felix barely glanced up from his phone. If Felix was the sun, Minho had long accepted that he was happy orbiting around it.
"What are you looking at?" Minho asked casually, trying to keep the conversation light. But beneath the surface, his heart raced, just being this close to Felix.
Felix looked up, his bright, mischievous eyes locking onto Minho's for a brief moment. "Oh, nothing really. Just some photos from back home," he replied, his deep, honeyed voice sending a familiar warmth through Minho.
Jeongin, who had been quietly playing a game on his phone on the floor, perked up at the sound of Felix's voice. It was like that for all of them-Felix's voice was enough to draw them in. The youngest scooted a bit closer to Felix, angling his phone so he could pretend to be showing him something, but really, he just wanted to be nearer. Felix gave him a gentle pat on the head, sending Jeongin into a quiet frenzy, though he tried his best to hide it.
Changbin entered the room next, tossing himself onto the couch next to Felix, his body naturally leaning towards him. "You doing okay?" Changbin asked, voice low, but there was a protective edge to it. Felix looked up, blinking in confusion."Yeah? Why?" Felix laughed, not picking up on the underlying intensity in the question. It was like this with all of them. Each one, in their own way, was drawn to Felix like moths to a flame, but Felix never seemed to notice the way their eyes lingered on him, or how they fought for his attention without ever saying it aloud.
Seungmin joined the room soon after, followed by Chan, who had his usual leaderly aura but couldn't help the way his shoulders relaxed when he saw Felix. Even Han, usually the most hyperactive in the group, was uncharacteristically quiet, watching Felix like he was trying to decipher some secret code.
It was Minho who broke the silence. "You know, Lix, you should spend more time with me." He leaned back, stretching his arms behind his head, his voice smooth and teasing. "I think we'd get along pretty well."
Felix raised an eyebrow, half-smiling at Minho's attempt to sound cool. "We already do get along, hyung."
"Not like that." Minho's voice was lower now, eyes flickering with something unreadable. Felix opened his mouth to respond, but before he could, Jeongin jumped in, voice high and playful but with an edge of seriousness.
"Hyung, you promised we'd game later tonight, remember?" Jeongin scooted even closer to Felix, almost pressing up against him now.
Felix laughed again, leaning his head back in exasperation. "Ah, you guys. I can't split myself into pieces, you know!"But that was exactly the problem. No one could get enough of Felix-his smile, his laugh, the warmth he gave off just by being in the same room. He was the glue that held them together, the light they all revolved around, whether he realized it or not.
And Minho and Jeongin, in particular, were starting to notice each other's subtle competition for Felix's attention.
"Maybe we should schedule time with him," Hyunjin mused from the doorway, his tone half-joking, half-serious. "Like, a Felix calendar."Changbin snorted, but no one said no. It was an unspoken truth among them: Felix was different. Special. They all needed him in some way. And as much as they loved each other as brothers, Felix's presence was something none of them could live without.
Minho, though, wasn't one to let things go so easily. He leaned closer to Felix, voice dropping into a whisper, just loud enough for Felix to hear, but low enough that the others couldn't. "How about we spend some time together tomorrow? Just the two of us."Felix looked at him, something unreadable flickering across his face. "Sure, hyung. I'd like that."
But as Minho smiled, satisfied, he couldn't shake the feeling of Jeongin's eyes on him from across the room.
It wasn't just about spending time with Felix anymore. It was about who Felix chose. And Minho wasn't going to lose.
Felix, blissfully unaware of the storm brewing around him, closed his eyes for a moment, leaning back into the couch. To him, his hyungs and dongsaengs were just being their usual selves. He didn't know that, for some of them, his smile was a lifeline.
