Jahseh's Pov/ Long Beach, CA/ Jahseh's Room/  10:30 AM/ Monday,  August 19th

I woke up to banging on my door. I lazily opened my eyes and glanced around my room. The sun was shining through the curtains and the wind was blowing. I groaned before sitting up and moving my hair out of my face. "I'm up" I mumbled. I wiped the drool off the side of my face before taking a deep breath to wake myself up. "What time does your first class start?" I rubbed my face, still feeling half asleep. "Fuck, I don't know." I mumbled, "Like 10:45" I scratched my head.

"Well, you better get up. It's 10:30 now" My ears perked up and I felt adrenaline run through my body. I quickly sat up and glanced at the clock sitting on my nightstand. Fuck, I knew I should've gone to bed earlier. I could hear Symere laughing outside my door and I rolled my eyes.  I attempted to quickly get out of my bed, but my foot got caught up in the bed sheets causing me to fall face-first on the floor. "ow" I quietly groaned before shaking my foot out of blanket.

I scooted back wiggling my foot out of the blanket before standing up. It was my first day of college. Well, not my first day; today was the first day of my junior year. I moved my hair out of my face before standing up and letting out a breath. I walked to my closet and snatched a hoodie off of the hanger. I put it on and left the zip open, I couldn't bother to put on a shirt. I closed my closet doors and walked over to my dresser.

I slid off my pajama pants and opened my drawer. It's times like these when I thank God for Symere. I was up all night until like 7 in the morning. Yes, I know it was a stupid idea but at the time I was having the time of my life. Symere and I have been friends since freshman year. We met through some roommate website bullshit, I didn't want to live on campus and he needed a roommate. At first, I was skeptical but we got along immediately. It was like an instant click, you know?

I grabbed a pair of sweatpants and slid them on. I grabbed some socks too and hopped around my room as I attempted to put on my socks. Fuck, where is my laptop? My bag? Where is anything? I walked back to my closet and grabbed my bag. I snatched my phone off of my desk before walking out of my room. "Why didn't you wake me up earlier?" I said in a slight panic as I threw the empty bag onto the couch. "I thought you had a later class" he shrugged sitting on the couch and scrolling on his phone.

"Whatever" I mumbled walking back into my bedroom. I grabbed my toothbrush and toothpaste before quickly walking across the hall to the bathroom. I pushed open the door and flicked on the light. I turned on the sink and ran my toothbrush under the water. I began to brush my teeth and I pushed my hair out of my face. I don't why Symere didn't check with me earlier, it's like a 10-minute walk to campus and then to get to class alone will probably take another 5 or 10 minutes.

Last year, we took the bus because it aligned with our schedules. This year it's either get to campus 45 minutes early or get to campus 15 minutes late. Personally, I hate waiting around for long periods of time. I can wait about 15 or 20 minutes but anything more than that will drive me to insanity. I don't why the bus only comes around here once an hour but it's whatever. I mean, I have my license and so does Symere but as a college student, buying a car isn't at the top of our list.

Biking is an option too, but let's be real. The people who bike either live 5 minutes away from the campus, or they're delusional ass niggas who are wanna be lifestyle influencers. It's too hot to be doing all that shit. I don't wanna get to class all sweaty and stinky. No, thanks. I held my hair back as I spit out the toothpaste, I rinsed out my mouth and washed off my toothbrush before shutting off the sink. I grabbed a piece of paper towel to dry my face and put my toothbrush back in its case.

I shut off the light as I walked out of the bathroom and back into my bedroom. I rested everything on the top of my dresser before pushing my feet into my crocs. I closed my bedroom door and walked quickly into the living room. "You seen my laptop?" I frantically glanced around the living room, "You mean the laptop you left on the counter last night? No, I haven't" I kissed my teeth and Symere chuckled. I stepped over the controllers Symere and I left on the floor last night.
