Long Beach, CA/ Campus/ Wednesday, August 21st/ 10:17 AM/ Jahseh's Pov

I rubbed my eyes as I sat across from Symere. We decided to take the 10 o'clock bus because I couldn't bare to take that walk again and I didn't feel like paying 25 fucking dollars for an Uber that's like a 5-minute drive. We got some breakfast and were chilling in the courtyard waiting for the right time to head to our classes. I wasn't as tired as I was on Monday; I made sure to take my ass to bed at an okay time. I was up until about 2 in the morning. Again, I couldn't sleep. I'm also ashamed to admit I was texting Darius.

I couldn't even tell Symere because they'd beat my ass. Darius put me through a lot, more stuff than Symere even knows about, more than my family knows about. He's probably done more shit behind my back that I don't even know about. I glanced around to see people start flooding the campus as they walked and talked with their friends, or were on the phone, walking with their girlfriend or boyfriend.

College lowkey felt like high school but without parental supervision. I fuck with it though, kind of. I felt a slight headache starting to form and I sighed. Symere looked up from their phone and gave me a concerned look. "Everything okay?" I nodded my head and they looked back down at their phone. I wonder how today is going to go, I wonder if that teacher is gonna be bitchy.

Wait, that was mean. She wasn't necessarily bitchy, I just didn't like the way she talked. Like throwing shade at me for being late on the first day wasn't necessary, then throwing shade at me for my phone not being on silent. Fucking crazy? I'm just gonna try and get there early so she can't say shit to me. I also went to the story last night to grab some snacks in case I get hungry again during class.

"How far is your class from here?" I spoke grabbing Symere's attention. "Uhm, not too far" They glanced around. "How far is yours?" I shrugged. "It's toward the back, so it's a decent walk from here" I would probably start walking around 10:25. Again, I wanna get there early so she can't say anything to me. "Do you want to meet up after our classes and get some lunch or something?" Symere tilted their head.

"What's the difference between meeting up and seeing you at home?" I raised an eyebrow. "Why go home just to go back out? We're already out so we might as well just grab some lunch" They rolled their eyes. "My fault. But yeah, we can grab some lunch"  I spoke while rubbing my eyes. Note to self: Grab a coffee before going to class, and make sure it's iced. I can't afford another burn.

"Do you want to get a coffee before we go to class?" Symere nodded and I glanced at my watch. "Should we go now?". "Yeah, my class is at 10:30 and it's already 10:20" They spoke grabbing their stuff. I grabbed my bag that was next to me and got up from the chair. Symere and  I sat right outside the cafe we went to for breakfast because we didn't really know where to go. We walked back inside the cafe and Symere held the door open for me. "Thanks" I mumbled.

The cafe was empty, surprisingly. They walked to the counter and I followed behind them. "What are you getting?" Symere questioned. "Probably a latte or some shit. Iced though, can't afford another burn" Symere quietly laughed and I rolled my eyes. Glad they found my pain amusing. "Yeah, I'll probably get the same thing. It's too warm to be drinking a hot coffee"

"Ouu, that caramel frappuccino looks good" Symere hummed. "Where?" They leaned back trying to see where I was looking. "There, it's the first one on the board" They nodded their head. "Yeah, that looks bomb as fuck. Imma get that". "Me too" I quietly agreed. We headed toward the counter and the barista was ready to take our order. "Good morning, ready to order?" She spoke and you could hear the tiredness in her voice.

"Yeah, can I get 2 medium caramel frappuccinos?" She nodded her head and tapped the iPad that was in front of her. "Anything else?" I shook my head and she continued tapping on the iPad. "10.50" I reached into my pocket to grab my phone. I tapped my phone against the card reader. The barista passed me the receipt and we moved to the area to pick up our coffee.
