Eris POV
It's been two weeks since I started my routine—training every morning, studying in the afternoons. At this point, the pattern was almost comforting. But right now, I was sparring with Matheo, and for the first time, I managed to trip him. Before I even realized it, I had him pinned under me, breathing hard as I tried to catch my breath.
I didn’t know what possessed me to stare at him—maybe it was the adrenaline, maybe it was something else—but I did. His dark eyes met mine, and I could feel my face flush when he smirked up at me.
"See something you like, witch?" he teased, his voice low and taunting.
That was enough to snap me out of whatever trance I’d fallen into. I jumped off him like he’d burned me, standing awkwardly for a moment as I tried to shake off the embarrassment. Matheo’s smirk only deepened as he pulled himself up, dusting off his pants like nothing had happened.
Theo was already there, offering his hand to help me out of the pit. I accepted it, but this time, I barely needed any help. I was getting stronger, faster. Theo grinned down at me, his accent slipping a little as he said, "You’ve gotten so much better, little dove."
His words made me stumble slightly, and I ended up bumping into him, my face heating up again. I cursed silently at myself for being so flustered around them—Matheo and Theo, they were impossible. My brain was on fire, trying to keep up with their teasing, the subtle tension that seemed to follow every interaction.
I scowled at myself and walked off before I could embarrass myself further, ignoring the way my pulse raced. As I headed down the hall, my thoughts were all over the place, swirling with too many emotions I didn’t know how to process.
Eventually, I found myself in the bathroom, where Pansy was fixing her hair in front of the mirror. She squealed in excitement when she saw me, practically bouncing on her heels.
"One more week until school starts!" she said, her eyes bright with excitement. "I can’t wait for you to meet Daphne!"
I blinked, confused, but Pansy picked up on it quickly, launching into an explanation.
"Daphne’s my best friend—kind, smart, honestly, no one understands why she was sorted into Slytherin, but we’re glad she was." Pansy smiled fondly as she spoke, but then her tone shifted. "And then there’s her little sister, Astoria. Ugh, that girl is a brat. She’s obsessed with everyone’s business."
I nodded along as Pansy rambled, but my mind was still half-focused on the sparring session earlier. Matheo’s smirk, Theo’s grin—it was like they were both trying to drive me insane. How was I supposed to survive another week of this before school even
"So, what do you think about Matheo and Theo?" Pansy asked suddenly, a mischievous glint in her eyes.
I raised an eyebrow, genuinely surprised. "What do you mean?"
"You know," she said, leaning closer as if sharing a juicy secret. "They both like you. It’s kind of obvious!"
I shook my head, incredulous. "Theo maybe, but Matheo? No way. He barely looks at me unless we're fighting or training."
Pansy rolled her eyes dramatically. "Oh, please! Matheo may act like a complete jerk sometimes, but I can see the way he looks at you when he thinks no one’s watching. He’s intrigued, even if he won’t admit it."
I tried to hide my disbelief. "Intrigued? Maybe he just finds me annoying."
Pansy laughed, her expression animated. "You really think so? Come on! He’s a cocky git, but he wouldn’t just pick anyone to spar with. And the way he smirks at you? That’s definitely more than just annoyance."
I couldn’t help but feel my cheeks warm. Maybe I was reading too much into things, but it seemed far-fetched to believe that someone like Matheo Riddle could actually be interested in me.
"I just don’t see it," I replied, trying to sound dismissive. "He’s just... Matheo."
"Right, and you’re just some random girl," Pansy teased, smirking. "Come on, Eris! You’re Matheo Riddle's mystery girl now. You can’t ignore it."
I sighed, folding my arms. "I know Theo likes me. I can feel that. But Matheo? No. I think you’re imagining things."
Pansy shook her head, her expression serious. "I promise you, it’s not just in my head. But you know, it’s kinda sweet that you’re not even considering it. It makes you even more interesting to them."
I didn’t know how to respond. The idea of Matheo liking me seemed so impossible, and yet Pansy’s conviction was hard to ignore. I pushed my hair back, trying to clear my mind. "I just want to focus on training and school right now. Boys can wait."
Pansy smirked knowingly. "Right. But just remember, when the time comes, you’ll have two handsome Slytherins vying for your attention. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!"
I rolled my eyes again, but I couldn’t help the small smile that crept onto my face. With the way my life was going, things were bound to get complicated. "Thanks, Pansy. I’ll keep that in mind."
She grinned, clearly pleased with herself. "Good! Now, let’s get back to it before they think we’ve disappeared."
