I made my way into the coffee shop in New York, looking around for Travis. I couldn't find him so I went ahead and began to order.

As I was carrying my coffee and bag over to my table, I spotted a tall bright-eyed man looking just as lost as I was a few minutes ago. I went ahead and called out his name.

He looked over to me in a smile and made his way over to me, grinning from ear to ear.

"Hey !" he waved, blushing.

"Hi ! Im sorry for ordering before you got here, it's just that I didn't see you here and I looked around but.." I rambled.

"No it's fine Tay! Seriously, come on, how about you help me pick what to order ?" he smiled at me in a way that I could tell was looking for a response.

I made a little hum in agreement and quickly followed him over, still swooning over the nickname he used.

After we picked a table, we sat down. He waited until I put everything down and pulled my chair out for me. I blushed profusely at the kind gesture and sat down, mumbling my thanks.

"So..." I laughed nervously as I took a sip of my drink.

"So.." he laughed along with me.

"Well...I'm not great with starting conversations..but uh...least I can do it try."

I laughed at that, allowing him to begin with whatever he was going to say.

"So what kind of music do you like?"

"Well, I listen to everything. If the song is good, best believe it gets added to the list, you know ?" he nodded along, like he was really interested in what I had to say.

"Yeah, I completely get that, seriously."

I nodded a bit.

"What kind of music do you like ?" I asked.

"Oh, well, like you said, literally everything. Jack Harlow definitely has some good hype tracks though ." he laughed.

"Oh yeah, definitely ! I listen to him with my daughter a lot in the car, really gets you pumped. Pre-game and pre-show playlists go hard with those on." I giggled.

"Speaking of, your daughter is absolutely gorgeous ! She's around the same age as my son, I'm pretty sure."

"Oh, well thank you !  I didn't know you had a son."

"I do ! His name's Ricky, really good kid. Not to brag or anything." he laughed.

"Oh no not at all, Alice is amazing too, she excels in school and in everything pretty much. I imagine Ricky does too ?"

"He does ! Huh, they're alike. Maybe we should take them with us next time, they'd get along don't you think?"

"Oh..yeah, definitely..but I'd have to ask Al first, if she's not up for it then I'm sorry, but there's nothing I can do." I always set boundaries with my daughter.

"Oh no of course. Take your time, no pressure." he smiled gently.

The rest of the conversation went well, and I was really hoping this would turn out to be less that a fling. Because in all honesty, I really did like him.

I got home that afternoon to the house being  very quiet. Which was unusual, because Alice would always be playing some kind of music whenever she was working on something.

I went upstairs and found her asleep with a few papers surrounding her. I cleaned up her area a bit, and covered her with a small blanket.

"Mommy loves you baby girl." I kissed her cheek and turned off the lights, leaving her room.
