"And this is Xiao the Frog. He's a character me and Fabienne made together." Francine clumsily doodled a cartoon-like frog in a piece of paper as Amethyst watched with sleepy eyes. Yet, he tried his very best to pay attention to their 'fun'. "We are currently making a comic about him. We dream to be great writers someday..." Francine added as she began to draw as well. This time, she drew the frog with a sword in hand. As if it was prepared for battle. "That's a good start. Y'know, when I was your age. Me and my brother had always desired to become professional doctors, like our mother..." Amethyst paused all of a sudden. He'd recall a faint memory, about both his mother and father. A memory that he would sometimes try to forget, for whenever he hears of it, he would possibly be in tears.
"Look, Ame!! There's a slimy frog over there!" The boy with pale, long hair that was formed like a ponytail pointed at the nearby frog that was hopping around the field. The boy next to him, with a shade of purple hair stared at the frog, blankly. "I don't really like frogs...", "Don't be a kill-a-joy, Ame! It's harmless!", "I said no.", "Please? Remember, I'm your elder brother~.", "NO!" The younger sibling slapped his elder brother's arm, but in a harmless feeling. As if the situation was really serious. "Don't you want to be a doctor? A surgeon? Let's dissect a frog together! If you don't, then I'll start calling you a scaredy wolf." The older sibling teased him, as he pulled his younger brother's arm, dragging him to the yard. He tried his best to escape his older brother's grip, but it was too late, for his elder brother already brought him near the frog, and forced him to catch the frog together. But little but he knew. That this was the last time he and his brother will get to bond together. Amethyst Rustleburn. And the eldest of the siblings: Sapphire Rustleburn.
"Mother. When will brother return? He'd been off for 2 days." Amethyst asked his mother, in curiosity. By the tone of his voice. He seemed worried. His mother could already see his eyes twitching, even though he was wearing some glasses, for his age. His mother flinched to sadness, as she was reading something in a piece of paper. Amethyst came near his mother to see the reason of her unusual expression. Yet, he can't read it properly, for it was in a strange font. The characters were clumsily written, yet understandable for elders. It said:
"Dear, mother.
It is I, Your son, Sapphire Rustleburn. I regret to inform you, That if ever I don't return as due. It means I am dead. Or maybe feasted by the cannibals, at the Chambre De Minuit, Tell my brother: Amethyst. To continue his dream. To become a wise and professional doctor. And Onyx. Even though he is still in your belly. I beg you to please, don't ever state my name to him. For I, Sapphire Rustleburn. A sinner."
"Monsieur Amethyst?" Francine waved her hand left in right, in front of Amethyst's face. Trying her best to wake him up from his day dream. He didn't realize that he wasn't speaking, nor blinking for that very moment. As if his soul left the universe, for a minute or two. When his consciousness returned from his body. He shook his head, aggressively as his ears swayed back and forth. "My apologies. I just recalled something from my past." Amethyst said, shortly. "A very long time ago...", "What do you mean by that, Mr. Amethyst?" Fabienne asked him as she raised a brow skeptically. As she pulled herself closer to Amethyst to see how he is. (I say again... THIS IS NOT A SHIP I AINT ONE OF THOSE PROSHIPPERS.) Amethyst hesitated, for a bit. "N-nothing... It isn't really that important. That was a very long time ago, anyway...", "When you have any problems in mind. Just tell us, and we'll try our best to comfort you!" Francine exclaimed, happily as she dropped her pencil to the table. Hearing this. Amethyst had this warm feeling on how becoming a parent feels like. "That's just sweet, of you two.", "From now on, we'll call you Uncle Ame-Ame!" Fabienne jumped near Amethyst, and embraced him whole-heartedly. "Heyy! No fair! I want a hug too!" Francine grabbed Amethyst at the back and strangled him playfully. Amethyst made no sound, yet was frustrated by his expression. But he didn't want to ruin the girls' fun. "You know, uncle Ame-Ame. I wish you were our father." Francine said, out of no-where, as she softly pulled Amethyst's hair. Amethyst turned to her, as he looked like he was in the dumps. "Don't say that. Flinn is still your father.", "I mean... He's always busy in work. And mother always ignores us whenever we approach her." Fabienne said, trying to cheer herself up by pulling Amethyst's collar, in a spirited way. Amethyst didn't know what to say, after hearing this. But instead he stroked their hair, making sure he wouldn't accidentally make them hurt due to his massive, and muscular hands. He's somehow enjoyed the little girls' comfort. The very moment he met Flinn, as well as the twins. He'd always say that parenting and spending time with little kids is ridiculous. And found the scene trivial. But now, he's slightly enjoying the feeling of being a parent. Even in an age of 27.
The twins fell asleep, next to Amethyst in the sofa, as they were snoring, but in an adorable, kittenish way. Amethyst drawing another Phantom. This time, a female one. But he was a bit distracted despite the drawing of the cartoon frog was standing there in the corner. Staring at him with odd, sleepy eyes. But he didn't want to delete it, for he will cherish the drawing, until the girls grow up. Consider it as a signature, but instead a drawing. As soon as that. Flinn suddenly entered the quiet room, seeing his daughters together with the grumpy, odd Amethyst. And this was a rare sight, for a person like Amethyst. "Amethyst? What did you do to them?" He asked, with a perplexed expression in his face. Amethyst replied with bloodshot eyes. As if he saw his rival. "Why did you say that as if I did something to hurt them or two. They just came up to me and started to play with me and whatever.", Flinn saw the two clutching Amethyst's tail. And made it as their pillow as they slumber. This was really cute, yet he was alarmed if Amethyst would do something to the two. "I understand." Flinn slowly smiled at Amethyst, serving this as a greeting considering that they are now 'friends.' Amethyst found this a bit disgusting. As the two stared at each other blankly. The room was filled with silence. But despite Amethyst's canine-like features, that works similar to dogs. His tail suddenly wagged aggressively, making the girls wake up from their peaceful nap. The two groaned as they lazily stood up from Amethyst's tail. "Ugh... How long were we asleep, again..?" Francine yawned as she scratched her eye with the back of her palm. Amethyst hurriedly swooshed his massive tail away from them, and helped Fabienne stand up as well. As soon as the girls' consciousness returned. They spotted their papa in plain sight, as they started to grin in joy as they saw him in the room. "Father! You're here!" the two came to their father in a trot as they embraced him tight as they could. "Hey! It hurts!" Flinn said, as he giggled as the twins started to squish him as if he was being crushed by a monster. Flinn stood up from the ground as the girls made space for him, and smiled at him heartly. But before he even got to tell the girls to head for supper. He asked this curiously, "Let me ask. What did you both and Amethyst do?", "Uncle Amethyst read us a book, and let us fluff his tail!" Francine replied to his father's question, as she seemed excited to inform this to him. Hearing this Amethyst eyed on Flinn menacingly. As if he said "See?" in a grotesque way. Flinn ignored Amethyst's smirk, as it was beaming with darkness from afar. And focused on his kids chit-chatting about their experience with Amethyst. "Uncle Amethyst? That's a cute nickname.", "I know right!" the two said, cheerfully. "Mr. Amethyst is the best ever!", the way the little girls described Amethyst made him proud, in the same time fond of himself. "Okay, now. You two head to the dining table. I'll be there shortly," Flinn commanded his daughters as he clutched onto their shoulder. Amethyst knew where this will be going. "Okay, papa!" The twins said, as they made a deep bow as a show of respect to their father. "See you, Mr. Amethyst!", as the two girls left the room, while holding hands. Flinn turned to Amethyst, who was lost for words. "Claude's meeting with the corps' 'Master' will be held tomorrow. Don't be late."
