As I dressed, my mind stayed on Wooyoung, thinking about how far he'd come since the accident. There were moments when his frustration or fear would show, but there was also that same spark of determination that had always been there. He wanted to walk again, and he was willing to do whatever it took. Today was just another step in that journey, and I was proud of him for the strength he showed—even when he didn't think he had any.
I finished buttoning up my shirt and returned to the bedroom to find Wooyoung sitting in front of the mirror, brushing through his hair. His movements were slower, more deliberate, like he was giving himself time to settle into the day ahead. I watched him for a moment, admiring the way he carried himself with quiet strength, even when he didn't realize it.
"Need any help?" I asked, walking over to him.
"No, I got it," Wooyoung said softly, his voice calm but carrying that determined edge. He gave me a warm smile, his eyes twinkling as he glanced over at me. "Someone looks like my favorite doctor again."
I couldn't help but chuckle at that, shaking my head as I adjusted the collar of my shirt. "Your favorite, huh?" I teased, raising an eyebrow. "I didn't realize I was back in your top spot."
Wooyoung grinned, rolling his eyes playfully. "You never left," he said with a wink, his hand resting on the armrest of his wheelchair as he adjusted his position. "But seeing you like this, all serious and ready for the day—it reminds me of when I first met you. All professional and put together."
I smiled softly at the memory, those early days when I was nothing but Wooyoung's doctor, guiding him through rehab and working with him every day. "I guess some habits never really go away," I said, stepping closer to him.
He shrugged, still smiling. "It suits you. Makes me feel like everything's gonna be okay."
The warmth in his voice made my heart swell, and I reached out to gently brush my hand over his shoulder. "Everything is going to be okay, Woo," I said quietly, my voice filled with certainty. "We'll get through today, and every day after that. Together."
Wooyoung nodded, his smile softening into something more serious but filled with trust. "I know," he whispered, his hand coming up to squeeze mine briefly before letting go. "With you, I always know that."
I felt a surge of affection wash over me at his words, and I leaned down, pressing a soft kiss to his forehead. "Let's get going then," I murmured. "The sooner we get this appointment done, the sooner we can start moving forward."
Wooyoung smiled up at me, his confidence returning as he nodded. "Yeah, let's do it."
With that, we gathered our things, ready to face the day. And as we left the apartment, I couldn't help but feel grateful for this—these moments of trust and love between us, where we could support each other through everything, knowing that no matter what, we had each other's backs.
