Waking up, I can feel both Ambrose and Emma's arms slung over my torso with Emma's feet entangled with my own. The heat radiating off there sleeping forms caused sweat to form on my body. Carefully, I unwrap their arms from my body and silently slip out of bed, "Come back to bed." Ambrose demanded glaring at my shaking form, "I just have to use the bathroom." I stammer, trying to relax my body, "Make it quick." Is all he said before relaxing his rigid body once more. After closing the door, I quickly walk over to the small window hoping that we are not too high. I wasn't going to make my escape yet, I would need to heal my foot first, but it wouldn't hurt to have an escape plan just in case. As I peer out the window, I come to the conclusion that we are much too high for it to be a viable escape. Sighing I go about my business, once finished I hesitate to open the door, wanting just a few more minutes to myself. Opening the door, I can hear light snores coming from Emma indicating that she is very much passed out. Sighing I make my way to the edge of the bed slightly wobbling due to my cast foot.

As I am seated I try to form some sort of plan, I can't escape whilst hurt, but I can make a few friends that might want to help me escape. As much as my heart lurched at the idea of leaving, I knew it was just the mate bond forcing these new emotions onto me. And it's not like I'll be leaving him all alone, he has another mate surly that should suffice. I didn't have any particular person in mind when thinking about whom to trust, but I knew they had to be humans, a wolf would most definitely rat me out or be forced to comply due to my mate's power over them. I subconsciously turn my gaze towards the resting alpha and his other mate, I couldn't help but notice how utterly perfect they looked together entangled in each other's arms. Not only that, but I knew that deep down, even if Emma didn't want to admit it she would be much happier without another woman imposing on her relationship. I never wanted to share my husband either, I always dreamed of finding a human man and buying a farm with him to live on. This dream used to bring me immense happiness, but now it just brought me sorrow, I hated how in just one night I was ready to rebuke all the plans I once had for my life. But I knew, no matter how much the mate bond forced me to fall in love with him, I couldn't, I needed to find my mother and the only reason I was here, was because of wolves. They took me from my home and sold me like cattle, as nice as Emma was she still participated in buying humans like they were nothing more than a dog.

This was all I needed to finally feel the simmering rage build inside of me, I hated how conflicted I have been acting. As I turned once more to the sleeping couple, I couldn't help the disgust I had for them etch onto my face. Grabbing the crutches the healer had left, I quietly made my way towards the door, somehow I had successfully managed to escape the alphas chambers. Wiping away the beads of nervous sweat that made their way down my forehead, I headed towards the servant's stairs. Opening the hidden door, I slowly made my ways down the tiny staircase. I finally had made it down the stairs wobbly limping out into the kitchen, "Oh my! What happened to you?" A girl who wouldn't have been much younger than me asked, her green eyes concerned, "I um tripped and fell walking down these dang stairs. But it's okay, I should be fine within a couple of weeks." I said with a slight trimmer to my voice, "why are you wearing such a nice nightgown?" She asked her once concerned voice turning sour, I didn't know what to say, so I stood there with my mouth gaping like a fish. I hadn't thought to change before coming down here, I had forgotten about the luxurious clothing I had been forced to wear. As I stare at the red-headed girl with emerald green eyes trying to come up with a feasible alibi, I could feel myself blushing from embarrassment, rising from my neck onto my cheeks.

Before I could explain myself properly to the girl, a growl omitted from the entrance of the kitchen. Startled, I quickly turn to the source of the noise, there stood the disheveled alpha frantically looking around until his eyes set on me. "Why are you down here?" Ambrose questioned, his brown eyes turning an obsidian black, "I um was hungry?" My response came out more of a question than an answer which didn't go unnoticed, "If you are hungry you tell a servant." Ambrose declared, his mouth set in a firm line, "Now come." He commanded, holding his large hand out for me to take, asserting his dominance over me. Without my consent my legs started moving on their own while my hand clasped onto his, it was probably for the best that I listened, especially if his ever present wolf was on the surface begging to be released. Before leaving the crowded kitchen, I glanced back to see all the servants in complete and utter shock. While I was too busy examining the faces of all the servants, Ambrose picked me up, carrying me back to our room. I would rather be a servant at this point, I didn't want all the humans to think about me in disgust. I never wanted to betray my kind, but sadly, I couldn't deny the mate bond now, and I couldn't attempt to run away until my foot was healed. After making our way back into our chambers I realized I had left my crutches, I had wondered if perhaps the alpha had done it deliberately to prevent me from running.

After being released from Ambrose's hold, I was told I had to get ready with Emma for the day. Ambrose had already gotten dressed well before Emma and I had even finished our hair, she had her lady's in waiting here getting the both of us dressed. The lady's all glared daggers at me as soon as Emma would turn her attention elsewhere, I could tell they were envious of me and hated a human being mated to such a powerful wolf. But I just ignored them, I would rather not make a scene, and I'm sure these were Emma's friends, so there was no point in arguing. After finally finishing getting dressed I turned to look at Emma, she wore a periwinkle blue dress that contrasted beautifully with her tan skin, the straps fell off her petite shoulders while the top portion hugged her waist the bottom part of the dress slightly puffed out with a dramatic slit traveling all the way up to her thigh. She looked beautiful with her long hair braided, small blonde curls falling out of her braid. Her makeup was very natural since most wolves preferred their mate that way, her face was already so angelic she really didn't need any. "You look remarkable Ava." Emma said, her face turning a light shade of pink, "Thank you." I said shyly looking away, despite Emma being a wolf I seemed to like her more than others, most of the time wolves were domineering and angry, but she was sweet and delicate. I knew by her ethereal Beauty she was definitely a wolf, but surly she was different in some way.

Trying to distract my mind from my bizarre thoughts, I examine what the lady in waiting's have done to me. For the first time in my life I was speechless, I couldn't recognize the girl staring back me. For once, I didn't have dark bags under my hazel eyes from lack of sleep, I no longer looked sickly and frail my figure finally looking attractive. My full lips had a lip balm on them making them smooth in comparison to the usually chapped skin that littered them, my doe eyes were now accompanied by long lashes thanks to the mascara they practically held me down to put on, they had decided on curling my auburn hair leaving it down the way that I usually preferred it. My dress I had begged for something simpler, and thankfully they obliged I wore a forest green silk dress with a corset top, the satin straps slightly fell off my shoulders, while the bottom of my dress ended at my knees. It was fancier than what I wanted but simpler than what most of the ladies of court wore, and for that, I was thankful. After begging Emma for what felt like years, she finally relented, allowing me to wear a simple pair of flats. While she wore a monstrous pair of heals, allowing her to easily tower over me even though she is slightly shorter than me. "Why are we even getting all dressed up anyway?" I questioned Emma, slightly annoyed, "I can't tell you it's a surprise." She quipped not allowing me to ask any more questions, with a slight huff, I followed her to our mate's office, letting the scent of honeysuckles guide us there. "We're ready!" She exclaimed, bursting through the door, looking up with a loving smile. He proceeded to lazily walk over towards us, picking me up so I no longer needed to limp around since I didn't have my crutches for support, eventually, this foot would have to heal and maybe then he would stop picking me up so much. Making our way through the castle, we head out towards the entrance, where a carriage is waiting. "We're leaving?" I asked, adrenaline coursing through my veins, "Yes, we're going to spend some time in the city." Ambrose says with a slight edge to his tone, I can't hide my excitement with a massive grin spreading across my usually grim face. Exploring the city would be the best way to find an escape from my supposed mate.
