The morning light filtered softly through the heavy curtains of the large, unfamiliar room. Taehyung stirred first, his small body curling tighter under the warm, thick blanket. He blinked sleepily, rubbing his eyes with his tiny fists before slowly sitting up. The bed beneath him was softer than anything he'd ever slept on, after the accident and the quiet calm of the room was a stark contrast to the chaotic life he'd known just days before.
Beside him, Jungkook lay sprawled out on his back, still sound asleep. His chest rose and fell in a steady rhythm, his face peaceful for the first time in what felt like forever.
The sight made Taehyung's heart feel a little lighter. For once, his hyungie wasn't waking up in a panic, searching for danger or gripping Taehyung as if afraid they would be separated. Here, in this strange but safe place, they were together. And that was all that mattered to Taehyung.
The soft creak of the door opening made Taehyung freeze for a moment, but then a familiar face peeked inside."Good morning, sweetheart," Mrs. Park's gentle voice greeted, a warm smile spreading across her face as she stepped quietly into the room, holding a tray of food. "Did you sleep well?"
Taehyung nodded, still a little shy around her. Mrs. Park had been nothing but kind since the moment they met, her warm embrace and soothing voice making him feel safe. But he was still getting used to it all—the comfort, the safety, the way she and Mr. Park treated them like they were precious.
"Are you hungry?" she asked, setting the tray on a small table near the window. There were warm pancakes stacked neatly on a plate, a glass of milk, and some fresh fruit. The smell filled the room, making Taehyung's stomach growl quietly.
"Y-Yes," he whispered, casting a glance at Jungkook, who was still snoring softly. "But... Kookie's still sleeping..."
Mrs. Park's smile softened even more as she approached the bed. "It's alright, darling. Let him rest a bit more." She sat on the edge of the bed and gently tucked a stray lock of hair behind Taehyung's ear. "You can eat now, and we'll save some for him."
Taehyung hesitated, his eyes darting between the food and Jungkook. For as long as he could remember, it had always been just the two of them, looking out for each other .They never ate unless they were together.
But something about Mrs. Park's soft gaze made him feel like it was okay to let go, just for a moment. Maybe, for once, he didn't have to carry the weight alone.
With a small nod, he slid out from under the covers and padded over to the table. The pancakes were warm and buttery, and as he took a bite, his eyes widened.
