it was 11:30 pm and valerie sat in the empty common room of her dorm building, talking to chris on face time. she would be in her room, but emory had a big test the next day, and valerie didn't want to distract her from her studying.
"me neither." chris said, grinning profusely. "you sure you're fine to go? like i'm not going to be the reason you flunk out or anything, right?"
"yes, chris. everything is in order. i talked to all of my professors and they said they would just check in with me once a week to make sure i kept up on my studies."
"and your parents. . .?"
"my parents are still okay with it." valerie replied, finding chris' worries adorable. "i promise, chris. everything is okay."
