- Eveline -

Daylight streams into my room which makes my face light up early in the morning. I wake up tormented by the clock that has been waiting for me for hours to wake up and I sit up to start my day in a good mood.

Like every morning, I make my coffee, clean the cat's litter box and air the gloomy apartment that will be waiting for me when I return from work.

"Shit... I'll be late again!" I nervously run around the empty rooms of the apartment making sure I don't forget something necessary at home.

I quickly grab my coat and shoot it like an arrow out the door. Behind me I wave to my cat who has no interest in those cute eyes and I run up the stairs of the building, taking off down the street, running towards the pastry shop.

I've always loved making people smile and that gives me the impression every day that I'm the best at serving a coffee in the morning with a warm croissant next to it.

My patisserie is quite popular and I attract a lot of people, that makes me very happy.

Also, I don't work alone, I have my best friend, Mary. She has always been by my side and I was the same for her. However, every morning I have to be scolded by her because I'm late for work.

Mary is waiting for me in front of the patisserie kicking the ground.

"Eveline, how many times do I have to tell you not to come so late again! I won't always be able to cover you" Mary huffs.

"I'm really sorry, I really tried to come earlier today, but the tram suddenly stopped!"

"Mmm..fine. I forgive you even today, but please get out of the habit of coming so late, okay?

"Okay Mary..."

I apologize again and enter the pastry shop. I head towards the changing rooms, which are located behind the counter, and I quicken my pace to signal the opening of the pastry shop.

It's a little different...it's not the aesthetic of the room, not the different types of desserts, but the number of employees. Although many people visit us, and the streets are full of people, we are the only ones working. Me and Mary. I can't say that there is a lot of pressure on us because we adapt. We work with great enthusiasm and speed.

Even if we work in the same place, we are separated by the tasks we have. I sit at the cash register where I really like to interact with the people who buy from us and Mary prepares the goodies we sell every day. When needed we do with the exchange.

My days have been like this since I was eighteen and will probably continue until I'm old, but I don't mind. As long as I do what makes me happy and I have by my side a person whom I have loved since I was a child, I will work with a lot of strength and confidence.
