It was a nice winter day. My friend Alex Busybody and I were playing on the ice. Alex had just given me a matching necklace that was a sign we were best friends. It was half of a yin and yang symbol. When put together it made a whole yin and yang symbol. Mine had the night sky on it and my name engraved on the back of it. Alex's had the day sky on his and his name engraved on the back of it.

Alex walked on the ice and it broke. Alex fell and got lost underneath the ice. I blamed myself for not trying to save Alex. I was too scared.

Fletcher was in his airship. He was number 9. His outfit was like Sportacus' but it was light and dark green with black and white. His hat was the same colors as his outfit and his sport glasses were green. His crystal went off.

"Alex, is in trouble."

He went to help. He jumped from his airship and dived into the water. He had gotten Alex out of the water. He was not breathing. Fletcher did cpr. I watched for a minute and ran home. I knew in my heart my friend was gone.

I went to Alex's funeral and Fletcher blamed me for Alex's death. I hid and decided to be a villain. That is how everyone saw me anyway. I also was never going to play another game again.

I didn't realize I fell asleep on the park bench in the middle of winter. I woke up yelling Alex's name. Stephanie walked up to me.

"Robbie, who is Alex?"

I got up and went to my lair. I sat in my orange chair and cried. Alex was the reason why I couldn't sleep.

I heard yelling and screaming. I went up to the surface. I saw one of my old inventions had been used but I didn't use it. I saw that Sportacus was in trouble. One of my inventions was used. Sportacus used one of my inventions. It was the cannon. I ran over to the icy pond and was too late. He landed upside down in a high tree. He fell out of the high tree. He fell head first. He broke through the ice and then disappeared under the water. I stopped in my tracks. Not again I thought to myself.

I said rope and the airship dropped me a rope. I tied it around my waist and dived into the water. I found him and pulled him to the surface. I got him to a place away from the ice. I checked if he was breathing or had a heartbeat. He had neither and his head was cut as was some other parts of his body. His crystal was glowing a dark black color.

I removed his crystal and one of the kids gave me a medicine box. I then used the scissor to cut off his shirt. I then did cpr and mouth to mouth. The the ambulance showed up and I just kept doing what I was doing. The paramedics made sure that Sportacus was dry before they shocked him. I was handed something as they shocked him.

I followed them to the room where they were still working on Sportacus. I was taken to another room and given cloths. I was checked and was fine. I looked at the thing that was given too me.

It said Alex. I flipped it over and saw it had the day sky on it. I still wore mine. I took it off and put them together. Perfect fit. I put mine back on and hid it under my shirt. I was allowed back into Sportacus' room. He was hooked to a lot of things. He was on life support. I was told he slipped into a coma. I was told with the head injury he may not make it. He had 10 staples in his head.

I realized Sportacus was Alex. Bessie came and handed me Sportacus' crystal. It was now glowing a red color. At least it wasn't black.

"Bessie, I know you don't like me but I have to say I don't think Alex it dead."

I had Alex's necklace in my hand. She saw that. "Yes, he is. But, he isn't at the same time. I don't hate you and I don't blame you for what happened."

"This time I didn't use my invention."

"I know Sportacus did. He found it and used it to try to save a kitten that was in the tree above the ice."

"I feel bad."

"The day my elf son died. He became someone better. He became Sportacus. I know I hid I am an elf. So, yes Sportacus is Alex. Why, do you think he wanted to be your friend so badly?"

"I hope he makes it."

"So, do I."

"Do the kids know?"

"No, keep this between us. Milford doesn't even know."

"I will and I will stay here and watch him."

"Thank you."

"You're welcome."

I felt horrible for trying to run Alex out of town. My only question was why did he use my cannon? What was he trying to do? Why did his airship listen to me? I fell asleep thinking on these thoughts.
