Lisa and Jungkook had a sleepless night.

The child cried for milk during the night, prompting Jungkook to get up to mix the formula while Lisa fed him. After some time passed, the child cried again, revealing that he needed a diaper change. The two of them carried the child to the bathroom to clean him up.

After washing the child, Jungkook was sweaty, so he took another shower.

Just as they lay back down, the child wet himself again, requiring another diaper change.

By three or four in the morning, both of them were wide awake.

The child lay in the middle of the two adults. Lisa reached out to hold Jungkook's hand and placed it near her face, softly asking him, "What are you thinking about?"

Jungkook squeezed her hand with his fingers. In the darkness, his deep voice sounded even more low and husky, "Nothing...!And you?"

"I was thinking that we were well-loved when we were young." Lisa's voice was gentle and carried a hint of tenderness. "Because we were too young to remember, we've forgotten as we grew up."

Jungkook remained silent.

In his memories, besides the monthly nanny. there were also housekeepers and caretakers.

Perhaps, as Lisa said, just like the child beside them now, he too had received careful care from his parents when he was very young.

"You must have been very cute when you were young..." Lisa playfully pinched his fingers, her voice carrying a smile. "And when your parents took you out, they would boast to the neighbors, 'Look how handsome my son is..."

She was weaving a false dream for him.

Jungkook didn't interrupt her.

He fell asleep within this dream.

In his dream, his father carried him on his shoulders, his mother bought him a yellow balloon that he held in his hand, making him smile with bright eyes.

In the dream, there were no vegetables, no laboratories, no eerily silent counseling rooms, no empty living rooms, and no endless darkness swallowing him up.

He sat on his father's shoulder, gazing at a distant child being dragged out of school by his mother, expressionless.

That child bore a striking resemblance to him.

He didn't cry, didn't laugh, and didn't speak much.

His peculiar nature led him to fights with his classmates as soon as he entered kindergarten. When his mother pulled him out, he looked up.

Their eyes met for a fleeting moment.

Suddenly, Jungkook woke up.

Lisa made breakfast outside while the child slept peacefully by his side.

Glancing down, he saw the child with long eyelashes, chubby cheeks, and mouth slightly open.

After a while, the child suddenly started breathing rapidly, his expression as if he were crying, puckering his lips and shedding a few tears before continuing to sleep.

"He's dreaming." Lisa entered quietly and, noticing Jungkook staring blankly at the child, she softly informed him, "Children dream too. They cry when they have scary dreams and smile when they have happy ones."

Jungkook got up to take a shower.

He didn't know if last night's dream had made him smile, but he felt like he understood what happiness meant.
