Author POV:
Prem had a tiring day at work. The stress of deadlines and meetings had left him drained both physically and mentally. As he lay in bed trying to relax, his thoughts drifted to M.ish. Soon he fell asleep and in his dream he saw a girl he had known years ago. They had met briefly during a family gathering, and although she was just a child at the time, there was something about her that had left a lasting impression on him.
As he drifted off to sleep, his mind wandered into the realm of dreams. In this dream, he found himself in a beautiful garden, surrounded by colorful flowers and chirping birds.Suddenly, a small girl appeared in front of him, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
Hello, my name is Ishita. Will you be my friend? she asked, her voice filled with innocence and sincerity.
Prem was taken aback by her sudden appearance. He tried to brush her off, telling her that he was too old to be friends with a little girl. But Ishita was persistent. She showered him with chocolates, cakes, and colorful balloons, trying to win him over with her sweet gestures.
Despite her efforts, Prem remained aloof. He was not interested in being friends with a child, no matter how adorable she may be. Ishita, however, was undeterred. She would wait outside his house every day, hoping to catch a glimpse of him and strike up a conversation.
But Prem was not swayed. He would ignore her, pretending not to see her standing there with a hopeful look on her face. Eventually, Ishita gave up and decided to go abroad to study, leaving behind the memories of her failed attempts to befriend Prem.
Years passed, and Prem had almost forgotten about Ishita and the dream that had haunted him. Until one day, a piece of news shook him to his core. Ishita had passed away due to a rare and extreme illness. The realization hit him like a ton of bricks, filling him with regret and sadness.
He woke up from his dream, drenched in sweat and gasping for breath. The image of Ishita's smiling face haunted him, reminding him of how he had rejected her friendship all those years ago. He felt a pang of guilt, wishing he had been kinder to her, wishing he had accepted her offer of friendship.
As he got up and made his way to the washroom, his mind was filled with thoughts of Ishita and the lost opportunity for friendship. He vowed to be more open and compassionate towards others, not wanting to live with the regret of pushing someone away again.
The dream had shaken him to his core, reminding him of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing every moment. He realized that sometimes, it takes a tragic event to make us appreciate the people around us and the connections we share with them.
With a heavy heart, Prem promised himself to honor Ishita's memory by being more kind and accepting towards others, never letting fear or indifference stand in the way of forming meaningful relationships. And as he stepped out of the washroom, he felt a sense of peace and closure, knowing that Ishita's spirit would always be with him, reminding him to cherish every moment and embrace every opportunity for connection and love.
