Mridula's POV
He turned around quickly and I jerked back a little. His lips curled up in a warm, remarkable smile and I ignored how that small gesture gripped my heart.
"You better not mess with me, Mridula." He commented as he held my shoulders. His warm palms seared through my clothes and skin.
"I am not. I am being practical." I told him. His brows raised in question.
"Will you ever give me a divorce?" I asked him and saw his eyes darken with fury and his fingers dug in my arms.
He bent down and closed the gap between us. His breath mingled with mine and our gazes locked.
"Never." He seethed. And that one word was enough.
"There. I know you won't let me go and I just thought I shouldn't waste my time." I lowered my gaze and eyed his lips.
"Besides you are not that bad of a company, Mr. Shekhawat!" I looked through my lashes and I graced him with a smile. I saw nervousness in his gaze and he let me go.
He turned tongue-tied and merely stared at my face. He leaned in and I closed my eyes on instinct as I felt him kiss my forehead.
"Thank you!" He whispered over my skin before side stepping and walking away from me.
Not thank you, Mr. Shekhawat, I want you to fall for me. Deeply and madly!

The next day, I came home earlier than usual. The assigned maid was in the kitchen, cooking us dinner.
I ambled in with a smile. I grabbed an apple and took a bite.
I asked her if she needed my help and she shook her head and told me that Uday had ordered her not to trouble me with anything related to cooking.
I mumbled okay and went to the living room to watch TV.
Soon, she left and I looked at the wall clock. Uday was still not home.
I waited for another another hour but he didn't show up. I unlocked my phone and stared at his phone number, contemplating whether to call him or not.
I decided for the latter and moved to the dining table. I served myself and looked at the emptiness around me. If I would have been at home, I would have had either mom or papa to talk to.
I looked at my dinner with disinterest. I just lost my appetite. I don't know why but I want Uday to be here at this moment.

Uday's POV
I climbed down my car and handed the keys to one of the guards to park it. My steps tread in quietly and I close the main door softly.
Mridula might be asleep by now. I ascend the stairs and reach our bedroom.
I hadn't expected a yes from her and now, I don't know what I should do.
There are very few times I let myself feel happy but this warmth in my chest forces me to live that emotion.
The bed is empty and made like no one had slept on it. I glanced at my wristwatch. It read two am.
Did she leave?
I rushed out and hurried downstairs. I glanced around the living room and then out the window to search for my wife.
No where.
I marched in the kitchen. Empty!
I let out a frustrated groan and then walked in the dining area. My steps flattered as I saw her.
