Rhea was waiting for her dad. The girl sitting on his motorbike, ready to go. She silently watches as Merle, T-dog, Glenn, Jacqui, morales and Andrea get into the RV, starting to get ready to start driving to the city.
"Yer ready?" Daryl suddently says, tapping Rhea's arm with his index finger, snapping her out of her thoughts.
"Yeah." She simply replies.
Rhea moves out of the way for her dad to get on the bike, now sitting behind him.
"Ya gonna fall?" Daryl asks as Rhea wraps her arms around his body for support.
"What? no, just go already." She mumbles, lightly annoyed. Daryl just lightly huffs. The others already getting started and driving away. The two of them also following on the motorbike.
After awhile of driving, the two little groups separate, the others driving to the city and the father and daughter driving to their house. It's gonna take awhile but Rhea doesn't mind. She's always loved biking, even tho Daryl didn't take her with him that often when she was younger.
They drive down an empty concrete forest road, the bike being the only noise in the quiet world. Rhea's happy to go and visit home, she misses some of her stuff that she never got back after the outbreak, she hasn't been home since. They finally reach their old neighbourhood, the small houses sitting empty and quiet next to each other. Not a single person in sight.
Daryl starts to slow down a bit, avoiding making that much noise. Rhea glances around as the houses slowly pass.
Miss Lopez's house, she used to have the adorable old Yorkshire terrier that I used to play with when I was little. The house passes.
The Cooper's house, they were always annoying and loud. The house passes.
Ayla's house.. My bestfriend. I miss her.
The house passes.
All of them, empty. Rhea wonders if she'll somehow meet them ever again. Then it's the Dixon's house.
The small, brown brick house just like every other house in the neighbourhood. Daryl pulls over infront of the garage door. Rhea hops off the bike as soon as it's parked."Can I go in?" Rhea inpatiently asks. Daryl also gets off the bike, letting out a small grunt.
"Hold on." Daryl grumbles, fixing the bike's position so it won't fall or anything before glancing around their small yard.
"I'll check first." He says, making Rhea mentally frown. Daryl starts making his way up to the front door, his crossbow in his hand. Rhea follows not far behind, her gaze around the neighbourhood, tho. It's weird to her how dead the whole place has gotten.Daryl opens the front door with the key he still has, the door creaking open. As Daryl steps a bit futher into the house, Rhea peeks inside, already seeing the familiar sight of the living room and a glimpse of the kitchen.
"Think it's clear." Daryl informs after a moment of looking around and listening, the house looking empty. Rhea steps inside, closing the door behind her. She just stands there, looking around for a second.
Everything looks untouched, not a single footprint on the slightly dusty floor. The familiar scent of the house is gone, no one hasn't been here in awhile.
She steps futher in, the small footsteps slightly echoing in the quiet space. Daryl's also just looking around, before his gaze falling to the brunette girl of his."Do whatcha wanna, just be careful." Daryl says, his voice rough as usual.
"Okay." Rhea nods calmly, taking a couple steps towards the stairs, leaving Daryl to the living room by himself. She walks up the stairs, still having her guard up, but it's crumbling at the sight of her home. Or... Used to be her home. It hasn't felt like home in years.
Rhea quietly and steadily walks up to the familiar door of her room. The door having initials R, H, E, A sticked onto it, some cheap space-themed wood initials she's has on the door since she was like 4.
She graps the door knob and twisted it, opening the door and quietly swinging it open. Her room.
She steps inside, looking around. Everything's still the same. The little room with a couple posters of planets hanging on the white walls, a simple children' bed on the corner and a wooden desk on the other one, still the exact same way it was when she left.
Honestly, Rhea didn't even get to fully pack any stuff, they were headed to Merle's place for one night, because he needed her dad's help for something that had to do with something about a car, but Daryl couldn't leave her alone so she came with. Then suddently a zombie outbreak happened the same night, leaving Rhea in her jeans, a grey t-shirt, a zip-up hoodie and her baby blue sneakers. She's had to survive with that for the past three months.Rhea steps futher inside, just looking around.
She decides to just pack, mentally making a list of what to pack with her. She opened her closer door, all of her clothes on the shelves. Rhea slightly smiles to herself, already seeing one of her favourite t-shirt laying there.
She looks around, realising that she doesn't know where to pack all the stuff. Her eyes land on her school backpack, stranded next to the desk.
The girl goes and graps it, opening it and turning it upside down for all of the stuff to fall from the backpack to the floor. Rhea glances at her math book that fell. Atleast I don't have to go to school anymore. She returns to her closer, thinking about what to pack with her. She sits down onto the floor, thinking that what would be wise to pack.
After a moment of staring at her star symboled backpack, she stands up.
She packs a pair of shorts because it is way too hot, two of her favourite t-shirts, an actual jacket this time, a couple pairs of socks and underwear. That's fine, right? The girl stoods up, looking at the clothes down in her backpack. There's still some space left.
Rhea packs her favourite stuffed animal, which was a bunny she's had since she was little.
Rhea sits on her bed. Looking around her old room. It looks so pale and boring, even tho nothing has changed. She hates this thing going on, wishing it would just end. Why is there dead people walking around?
Her gaze catches on a drawing she's made of saturn, her favourite planet that's sticked onto the wall. She gets back to her feet, walking up to the desk. Then she picks up her school pencil case from the floor, emptying it on the desk before filling it up with just her favourite pens and pencils.Rhea can't find a good note- or sketchbook to pack, making her mentally frown. But then she remembered something, opening the bottom drawer of her desk. There was a notebook that her mom had given Rhea a few years ago, but she just put it into the bottom drawer to use it as a spare one. Rhea takes it, then moving to drop the notebook and the pencil case into the backpack, still wondering if she should pack something more.
"Ree."
There was a couple soft knocks on the door and a rough voice speaking. The little girl turns around to look at the doorway, letting out a small hum of questioning.
"Nothin'." Daryl mumbled a bit softly after a moment of checking on what the girl's doing.
"Ya ready soon?" He asked."Oh.. Yeah, sure." Rhea said, zipping up the backpack. Daryl stays in the doorway, looking at the small brunette girl. His girl.
"Uhh.. I'll go also pack somethin' real quick, won't take long, then we'll go." He informs after a moment. Rhea gives him a nod. Daryl quietly leaves the door, making his way down the small hall to his bedroom.
Not long until Daryl's packed a backpack, both of them heading out of the house. They don't really talk anything, they usually even don't really talk.
The girl and his dad drive away with the motorcycle, back to the camp.🪐
