BACK TO THE PAST - 8

Elena, Laila, and Elijah are sat in a car as Elena parks the car, Laila sits up, sitting in the back. Of course, Elena is driving whilst Elijah drinks from a blood bag. Laila rolls her eyes as she leans foward, resting both of her forearms on the shoulders of both Elena and Elijah's chairs.

Elena turns to Elijah, her long, straight brunette hair falling over her beige jacket, she sighs and let's out a short breath before speaking, "you look better."

Elijah pulls the almost empty blood bag away from his lips, his head tilted down, he speaks bluntly. "Where did you get the dagger?"

Elena nods and looks over at Elijah who's looking down at the blood bag, she speaks, determined. "I'll tell you everything Elijah, but we have to work together."

Laila sighs and sits back and speaks loudly, "Basically she needs your word."

Elijah shares a glance with Laila before turning back to face the blood bag in his hands, "Yeah well, Elenas ability to make demands has long passed."

Elena shakes her head, "no demands. I'm offering you my help, and in return... I want yours."

Elijah pulls his gaze away from the blood bag and looks out of the windshield, "and why should I even consider this?" He asks, clearly debating what she's saying.

He turns his head to look straight at Elena, she shrugs and speaks. "The same reason you haven't killed me. You need my help to kill Klaus, and I need you."

All three of them are interrupted as Elenas cell phone buzzes, Elena looks down and picks up her phone. Laila quickly speaks, "Elena don't!-" but she's cut off by Elena answering the phone.

Laila groans and rolls her eyes, turning to her left to look out of the window, along with Elijah. Stefan speaks in a panicked tone over the phone, "where are you? Are you okay?"

Elena nods and answers short and bluntly, "yes, I'm fine."

"Where's Elijah?" Stefan speaks over the other side of the phone.

Elena looks over at Elijah and speaks, "he's right here."

Stefans determined voice speaks over the phone, "where? I'm on my way."

Elena quickly answers him, "no Stefan. Me, Elijah and Laila need some time alone."

"Lailas with you? Listen to me, they can't be trusted. Especially Elijah. He'll use you to get to Klaus." Stefan speaks quietly on the phone. Laila rolls her eyes at his words as she listens to their conversation.

Elena let's out a small unreadable, shaky breath, she shares a glance with Elijah before speaking bluntly, "Elijah is a noble man, Stefan. He lives by a code of honour, I can trust him. He knows that I'd be incredibly stupid to betray him again, by removing the dagger, i have proven myself. And Laila, I trust her. She helped us before, she helped me. She saved me from Rose. I trust them Stefan."

Stefans voice replies almost immediately on the other line, "you can't do this alone."

Elena replies to him, and to Lailas suprise she speaks and says, "it's my decision Stefan, please respect it. And make sure that Damon doesn't do anything stupid. I'll be in touch."

Elena presses the button on her phone, and removes it from her ear. Still keeping it in hold in her hand. Elena raises her eyebrows at Elijah. He holds out his hand and tilts his head slightly to the side. Elenas face drops slightly as she takes a deep breath in and places the cell phone in his hand.
