EMILY BLAKE
"Hey, Emily!" Jabari's voice echoed as he hurried up to me and Anna, his excitement barely contained.
"We're throwing a senior party after school—everyone's coming. It'll be great!" I hesitated, glancing toward Anna, who only shrugged.
"I don't know," I said cautiously.
"My parents are usually fine with me hanging out, but parties... not so much."
Dad could be understanding, but when it came to parties, he was always reluctant. Mom would never be on board without his approval first.
Anna nudged me, sensing my hesitation.

"I don't know," I started, feeling my heart pound with nerves. But Anna squeezed my hand, her voice gentle.
"Come on, Em. We're always playing it safe. Just this once, let's have some fun," she urged softly, her expression pleading.
My mind raced, conflicted. I'd never lied to Dad—our relationship had always been open, built on trust. But as I looked at Anna's hopeful face, I found myself reluctantly agreeing. Maybe just this once, it wouldn't hurt to do something a little out of the ordinary.
