My secret life has come to a head on collision with my other life. Not only did I blow my entire mission but now I'm stuck babysitting Drew, one of the most gorgeous boys from my high school. He probably thinks I'm a freak or something. Plus, I get my first major assignment and it was an epic fail. I have no idea what's going to happen now. On the bright side, I'll be spending every waking second with Drew. What? I'm just being optimistic.
Chapter 2: If it Hadn't Been for Love
When I asked Drew if he had a car, I didn't mean that I wanted a tour of his family's endless collection. He was enthusiastic though, probably from the adrenaline and having to assist a secret agent on a top secret mission. On our way to his home, I explained as much as I could. I was a government appointed agent who worked for an organization that remained classified. I've been trained in the fields of espionage, hand-to-hand combat, and assassination. Let's just put it this way...while other teens were out getting their driver's license, I was getting my license to kill.
Of course Drew gave me the most petrified look, asking if such a thing even existed. I responded that the government didn't want the general and even the national public to know of such sanctions. Hell, I wasn't even supposed to be telling him this.
His response was surprisingly calm. I guess that made me feel a little less weird...just a pinch.
"So there are a couple of corvettes but I'm thinking that maybe the Dodge Avenger would be most appropriate," he joked, maneuvering around expensive cars. I followed loosely behind, my mouth slightly agape. I had never seen so many pricy automobiles in my life. One caught my attention immediately. It was a 1965 Chrysler New Yorker. My fingers gently grazed the sleek exterior, which had a gorgeous black paint job.
It's so vintage, cool.
"That's one of my favourites," Drew's voice fluttered into my ear. Startled, I pulled my hand away and looked at him. He let out a soft chuckle.
"You can touch them, my Dad gets people to come in and clean them twice a week," he stated and I blushed, tucking a tendril of my dark hair back.
"So, which car do you want to take?" he asked.
"Uh, which one goes the fastest?"
He looked around momentarily before spotting the car he had in mind.
"It would be this guy right here," he grinned excitedly as he made his way to a sliver Porsche Carrera. It was an attractive car and I'm positive it cost the same as a house. Man, the Richardson's were loaded.
"Well, it's not the fastest but it's the fastest I'm allowed to take out," he further explained, moving to a rack on the wall that housed keys.
"It'll do," I stated and I made my way to the passenger door. Drew gave me a peculiar look and tossed me the key.
"You're operating this whole thing," he stated and I pulled in my brows before tossing the key back.
"I can't drive, I don't have my permit," I stated simply and he let out a laugh.
"Let me get this straight. You have a license to use lethal force but you don't have a license to drive?" he pointed out incredulously and I rolled my eyes.
"Well when you say it like that...just get in the car," I retorted back. With a playful roll of his eyes, he did so and I slid in after. The interior possessed a new car smell and the leather beige seats were rather cozy. I could get use to this. My phone rang and I instantly picked it up.
"Penny, Dad has new directives for you," Wyatt said.
"What are they?"
"Apparently an alarm has been set off to Berlin about you and that Richardson guy. The city is crawling with his assailants. Dad thinks you guys should leave the city and take refuge somewhere far. I'll send directions of the hideout to your phone," He explained, ending the call.
