Chapter 5

*Adriano POV*

The familiar sound of my alarm goed off, telling me it's time to wake up.

I get out of bed and start getting ready for the day. After I'm done, I make my way to her room.

Seeing her bedroom door already open, I look inside, but see no one. Her bed shows no sign that she has slept there.

I don't know what it is about her. When I saw her last night at the club, she looked scared, uncomfortable, and out of place.

You could tell that she wasn't one of Nathan's whore's that he plays around with.

I tried reading her but every time I look into her eyes, I can see she's fighting battles of her own. Struggling to trust me.

When we were in front of the house, she looked at it as if it's her prison. It was there where I saw her, fighting something in her head before continuing.

I walk to my office finding Sebastian on the way. I called him last night, asking him to do a background check on her, but nothing came up.

"Anything new?" I ask. Sebastian is my second in command and best friends. We known each other since we were kids.

"No, It's like she doesn't exist. There is no one by the name of Lilly in the system" She gave me a fake name.

Smart

She's hiding from something or hiding something, either way I want to find out what it is.

"Go through the Russian's system, see if you can find anything there. She stole money, trace it back to the device she did it on"

"Yes sir" We walk into my office when I stop in my tracks.

It's her, sleeping on the couch with a book in hand. She looks stressed, as sweat runs down her body.

"Get me te security camera's from last night, and don't let anyone come in here. This door stays closed" not saying a word he walks out.

I walk to her, taking the book from her hand and placing in on the side table.

It's strange, I have this nagging feeling that I want to keep her safe.
I want her to like me, I want to be gentle with her, it's as if I need that validation, and it's killing me.

I need answers, I need to know who she is. The way she backed away from my mama's touch definitely didn't go unnoticed by me.

I walk out, closing my office door, and to the kitchen for dinner. As I walk in my men stand from their seats, and bows their head in respect.

I simply nod, allowing them to sit back down. Not long after, the maids came in with the food.

Everyone started eatings, and talking around the table.

"The French mafia requested a meeting" I turn towards Sebastian about to ask for more information when she walked in.

Everyone went quiet, and all my men's eyes were on her. She looked around at everyone, then her eyes stopped when they locked with mine.

Those dark brown eyes looking at me. She might as well be the most beautiful woman I have every laid eyes on.

Her long dark brown hair was tied up into a messy bun, leaving little strands to hang lose around her face.

My mama finally broke the trance when she spoke with Lilly.

"Darling, please sit eat we have a lot to go around" She looked at mama with a soft smile.
