Now that Ben had figured out how the watch worked, he had taken to saving people. Nothing too major yet, just saving people from fires and cats from trees, that sort of thing. Right now, he had transformed into Heatblast to save a family from a house fire - it turned out that Heatblast could absorb fires. Gwen, Max and Glitch were waiting inside the Rustbucket, and watching Ben work. Out of the corner of his eye, Glitch noticed a group of men robbing the jewellery store.
"Guys, look!" Glitch yelled. Gwen gasped as she noticed, and Max drove up closer to Heatblast, honking its horn at him.
"Yo, Super-Doofus! The fire was just a diversion to cover up a jewellery store robbery. The bad guys are getting away!" Gwen shouted, Ben looked somewhat annoyed, as he glanced between the boy he had saved (who was holding some Sumo Slammer cards, Glitch realised) and Gwen.
"Er- I knew that..." Ben muttered, rushing over to the Rustbucket and getting inside.
Max was quick to start speeding after the criminals, as Glitch groaned, looking at Ben. He couldn't sit down without burning the seats - and probably either Gwen or him.
"Knew I should've brought those asbestos seat covers when I had the chance." Max huffed.
"Not sure that's a great idea." Glitch muttered, shaking his head. Last time he checked, asbestos wasn't the healthiest thing.
"Sorry Grandpa, I can't help it. I'm hot..." Ben sighed.
"Ugh. Ten superheroes on that stupid watch and you picked the one with the flaming butt?!" Gwen asked, spraying Ben with the fire extinguisher as Glitch glanced at the other aliens, each of them looking a bit unsure of what to do. XLR8 probably wanted to help catch the criminals, Glitch guessed.
"Jealous?" Ben asked, smirking. Gwen tried to spray Ben again, but he dodged this time, turning his attention to the speedy car again. He narrowed his eyes slightly, before leaning out of the side window, shooting a ball of fire at the car. It hits it and sends the car spiralling out of control. "Stee-rike!"
Their car crashed into a wall, and Glitch winced, hoping nobody was too injured from that. Even if they set a family's house on fire to rob a jewellery store. By the time the robbers recover, Heatblast had come right up to their car, ripping the door off.
"Unless you want a permanent sunburn, HANDS AGAINST THE WALL!" Ben shouted, watching as the robbers do just just that, not noticing that the watch had begun flashing, "You punks picked the wrong day to be bad guys!"
"Huh? Wha-" one of the robbers muttered, noticing Ben, "Hey, there's a kid here! Grab him so we can distract that living fireball! I'll get the jewels."
"Wow. Time sure flies when you're having fun! I-I've decided to let you guys off with a warning this time!" He scuttered away, just as police cars drove up, surrounding him and Heatblast. Heatblast looked a little confused, before smirking slightly.
"Freeze!" the police shouted, pointing their guns at the criminals.
"They're all yours, officers! Now I know y'all want to thank me, but-" Ben was cut off by one of the officers, who looked very much annoyed.
"Step aside, son! This isn't playtime! You're the one who got in that thing's way!" the officer snapped, pointing at Heatblast.
"Playtime? I'm the one who captured them, not Heatblast! It's not fair! I'm the hero! Oh man..." Ben complained, storming off. He sat down next to Glitch, as Heatblast came back in.
"Great job out there!" Heatblast said, grinning excitedly. Ben just ignored him, causing Heatblast's grin to drop. Glitch frowned, giving Ben an annoyed look, watching as Heatblast went back over to his brothers, seeming upset now over Ben ignoring him.
