Arc 6.24 Zu Yin
"Report!!"
A ragged soldier dressed in bloody rag armor rushed straight towards the open chambers where Zu Yin was having a meeting while babysitting his eight-month-old child.
"Shush! You are disturbing my little prince."
Zu Yin rock the sleeping baby in his arms after getting coaxed and having his fill before finally giving the baby to Hua Yun who had been by his side all this time.
Everything had been chaotic ever since the Emperor got ill and the Princes were trying to overthrow each other; the border was also in disorder, adding to the chaos.
Zu Yin had been busy all this time and almost had no time to spare; he was always at the palace and at court to clean after his brother, the Emperor.
With things in disarray, Zu Yin also moved his family where he could see them in the palace (of course with him).
The safest place is, of course, with him.
"Do you need me to leave?"
Hua Yun looked at the people around them, soldiers, officials, generals, etc., who had been staring at the mother and son ever since the meeting had started.
He thought that Zu Yin was so overprotective that he did not even want him to be out of his sight!
Though he thinks that he is so sweet, this is, of course, still a secret meeting held by those higher up, and he does not need outsiders like him to listen to and even have a baby crying during the meeting.
Although he had almost thickened his face due to Zu Yin's harassment during these days, being stared at by battle-harden soldiers and generals, and important officials while coaxing a baby and feeding him still made him embarrassed.
When they are discussing some very important matters, the baby would then start to cry and want to be coaxed by his father (Zu Yin).
Though he likes the attention Zu Yin is giving him and the baby, this is really not the time to play with children.
"If you are tired, you can rest behind the screen."
Zu Yin wipes Hua Yun's sweat and kisses him on the forehead, earning him a frustrated groan from the others and an embarrassed Hua Yuun running away.
Watching his beloveds back disappear, Zu Yin could not help but sweetly smile.
Seeing the Demonic Grand Prince smiling so eerily, everyone shivered.
"Report."
Zu Yin looked back at his people, and the sweet smile on his lips disappeared as if it was never there.
Everyone shivered seeing the ice Demonic Grand Prince they once knew standing in front of them with his demonic presence over them.
Thinking about the sweet, smiling, and loving husband and father just a while ago is a far stretch to this Demon!
"Grand Prince, our people had sent a letter that the Crown Prince's private soldiers are marching towards the Capital as we speak. They are quickly marching past the checkpoints as the Crown Prince's soldiers here to assist the Capital from the rebellious Grand Prince who killed the emperor and wants to occupy the throne!"
After the soldier spoke, silence ensued.
Everyone looks at each other, cold sweat dripping from their backs.
All of them thinking, "What the hell is this Crown Prince doing?!"
"Oh?"
Zu Yin only smiled after hearing the soldier's words.
But this one smile sent chills down everyone's spine.
"This Crown Prince is so eager to sit on the Dragon Throne. Can't he wait after the Emperor is buried before he declares his sovereignty?"
Everyone sweat dropped.
"My brother's body is yet to rot yet the Crown Prince can't wait to sit on the throne. Even the other Princes wanted to sit on the throne without even looking at their late Father's Emperor's face. My brother has raised them all in vain."
Zu Yin shook his head in amusement.
"What a shame."
"Grand Prince, what should we do?"
Everyone was afraid to speak after seeing the chilling face of Zu Yin, but finally, one brave old official who was not afraid of death spoke.
Zu Yin smiled.
"What else? Let them come."
"Hurrah! Horah!"
"Open the gates and kill the rebellious Grand Prince who killed the Emperor and cut off his head!"
"Hurrah!!"
"Those who open the gates will be spared! Those who are in the way will die!!!"
"HOOORRRAHHHH!!!!!"
The shout and scream of the soldiers ensued outside the gates.
"A'Yin..."
Hua Yun clenches the helm of Zu Yin's royal robes, and he looks at him with fear and worry in his eyes.
Seeing him like this, Zu Yin hugs and kisses Hua Yun, comforting him.
"Don't worry, A'Yun. Everything will be fine, trust me. I will protect you and our child. I won't let anything happen to you and our little blessing."
Zu Yin kissed Hua Yun's forehead also not forgetting to kiss his son's head.
"I just can't help but worry that...."
Hua Yun cried but did not let his tears fall.
"I trust that you will come back to me...to us."
Everything that had happened in his life seemed to be a dream. Him marrying the feared Grand Prince, being loved by Zu Yin, and even giving birth to his child.
Everything was like a dream.
He always thought that maybe one day he would wake up from this reality and that everything was just a dream.
But in every moment that he thought that this was an illusion, Zu Yin's warm hug and passionate kisses made him realize that everything was true.
That this was not a dream.
But with the war going on, this reality he feared might become an unreachable dream with one mistake.
He cannot do anything and always needs protection; he can only bite his lips and shut his mouth to not add to Zu Yin's worry, and hug him tight to feel his warm temperature and feel that he is alive, they are alive at that moment.
"I love you.
Hua Yun watches Zu Yin's back disappear from his eyes, hoping that this will be the last time that he will watch him leave like this, with prayers of his return safe and sound.
