**The story is in Raeleigh's POV!!**
*Focus, Focus, Focus*
I had too I couldn't afford any distractions with graduation being so close though, everyone around me was celebrating in some way, block parties in the middle of the street, bumper stickers on the back windows of student's cars that read, U Of L Graduate obviously handed out by the teaching staff and off campus throw down's.
I wasn't the party goer of my side of the hallway, Side B Room 237, to be exact. That's where all of the honor students resided. We had developed a nickname known as the 'B Hallway Brainiacs', call it stupid or being given a hard time what have you. But, we were proud of it, I mean, come on, we won state in the academics tour 2 years in a row.
Anyway, it was my dorm mates and best friends, Sam and Jaylyn who spent 75 percent of their time searching for the so called night life.
Campus Senior Class Field Day was upon us, also known as Senior Ditch Day for half of the students but me, I was knee deep in a biology text book jotting down several notes for extra credits, to look good on my resume if I ever considered taking on a high paying corporate job, I've always dreamed of becoming a lawyer but, I have no problem working a nine to five $7.5 minimum wage desk job to get to where I want to be. After all, one must work their way up before becoming successful at anything in life. That's my motto.
I finished my notes, getting dressed and sprinted out of the dorm room as if my life depended on it. In this case, it did. Suddenly, I was met hand to face with Jarrod Martin, when he carelessly slammed my books across the hallway floor. Guys like him secretly dug girls like me but were always too caught up in their selfish, smart ass egotistical selves to give us the time of day.
"Watch it, jerk face! Some of us have important last minute errands to run!" I shouted, annoyed. "Can it, Nerd Bomber, watch where you're going, some of us have ditching to do!" he responded, pushing me aside.
I picked up my scattered belongings and took off to Mr. Riley's room, to turn in my assignment for the final few credits I needed this year, "Sorry, I'm late, sir. I ran into that slacker Jarrod in the hallway and he mangled my notebook pages when he bumped into me." I said, apologetically, trying to find my notes in that mess of a book bag. "It's quite alright, Ms. McDaniel, just hand in the extra credit and you may leave." he replied, holding out his hand for the paper. I handed him trash thanks to that overgrown buffoon. My life was officially over. *facepalm*.
"Sorry, Mr. Riley, they're in here somewhere I was in a hurry and well, MeanStreak Martin slowed me down with his name calling nonsense." I reassured, after having found the paper and given it to him he replied, "Ms. McDaniel, you are a very bright, intelligent young lady who's going places after today, I'd hate to see you waste your smarts on the likes of that hooligan. He's going nowhere, unless he straightens his act up, he'll be guaranteed a first class ticket to the backseat of a cop car."
"What do you mean, sir?" I asked, unaware but curiously. "Oh, Oh, nothing, Thank you, Goodbye, Ms. McDaniel." he replied, nervously. I was skeptical but saw myself out, "Goodbye Mr. Riley, enjoy your freshmen class next year, Be sure to mention me considering I am an honorary B Hallway Brainiac." I chuckled, proudly. "Of course, See you later."
Closing the door behind me, I stepped lightly to avoid any sign of MeanStreak Martin. I was parched, so I swung a left to the water fountain near the restrooms in C Hallway, Otherwise known as Coed Central. Putting my lips up to the H20 I drank sip after sip slowly, allowing the icy cool liquid to soothe me, cleansing and hydrating my bones from the inside out.
It felt like heaven to drink that water after having sat for hours with my eyes glued to a text book, pen and paper. As I wiped the excess water off of my mouth with the back of my hand, he came darting up behind me, "Who goes to class during Ditch Day?" he asked, in a whisper. "What do you want, Martin? I don't have time for your ignorance." I replied, ready to leave him standing until he took hold of me.
"Let me go, you animal, or I swear, I'll call Campus Security on your sorry behind!"I spat, attempting to release his hold. "Chill, Nerd Bomber, I just wanted to ask you out." he replied, raising his hands in surrender. "No, now, leave me alone! I've been through enough hell already thanks to you, take a hike, MeanStreak!" I yelled, I was done with this conversation.
Jarrod was good looking but his attitude was awful and made him alot less attractive. "Wait a minute, what do you mean hell thanks to me, all I did was run into you?" he questioned, "It was an accident, don't get your panties in a bunch."
"Shove it, jerk! It wasn't an accident and you know it, you ran into me on purpose, made me late to turn in my paper for final credits and to top it off, you resulted to name calling. That's so immature." I rolled my eyes, "But, lucky for you, I found the paper and handed it in with time to spare, receiving my credits. So, I am grateful to you for that." I replied.
"Alright then, no problem. Since I did such a good deed, how about rewarding me?" he smirked, "ugh, if you want me to sleep with you forget it, go get one of your fast girlfriends for that, it's what they're paid for, right?" I replied, disgusted. "Um, no, I meant would you go to a party with me?" he asked.
I was reluctant but agreed, "Okay, sure, but where is it?" I asked, "My house." he replied, "You have a house?" I asked, "Off campus, yes." he replied. "Okay, pick me up around 7pm." I replied, figuring that going with him was the least I could do. "Gotcha, Can I have your digits?" he asked, pulling out something from his back pocket. "Huh. . . ." "Your Phone Number." he replied, taking out his cell and adding a contact. "Oh, yeah." I gave him the number and went back to the dorms.
I knew his reputation he was abit of a drinker, or so I've heard. What if he gets me drunk? Just one drink and I never have too see him again.
