Raymond strode to his room after breakfast and his talk with Mrs Sandra. He shut the door and plumped down on his bed, pondering on a lot of things: his lost parents, lost job, the drugs, his salvation, and the house he now lived in.
'What now?' He asked aloud. 'What next?' He asked again this time in a whisper. His mind drifted to what Mr Felix said, 'That's the voice of the Holy Spirit. Get used to it. You'd be hearing it more often.'
'Well, it seems I need the voice of the Holy Spirit now. I'm quite confused.' He mused.
Why not ask? He heard his inner voice prompting.
'Holy Spirit, I've never done this before, and I don't know how to do it. I'm confused. I don't know what to do next with my life, and I don't want to make a mess of it like I did the last time. Would you please help me?' He poured out his heart. There was silence. Then he suddenly remembered the scripture he read earlier that day and had a nudging to start there. He picked it up and read it again.
'But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!'
He knew these were the words of the Holy Spirit to him, coupled with what he heard in the morning. God was ready to lead him; the question, however, was he ready to follow? He closed his eyes to respond to the question posed to him.
'Lord, I've run my life on my own for a while. I've done my own stuff, and look where it landed me, yet you came in the midst of it and pulled me out of my mess. Why wouldn't I follow you? It's obvious I can't do it on my own. Just lead the way, and I'll go.' As he rendered his heart-felt prayer, the sword on the cover of his Bible lit up a faint red at its hole, but he didn't notice because the Bible was still open.
He looked into the scripture and read over and again; the light getting brighter and hotter as he read. The effect was also evident in his heart, which increasingly burned as he read, mirroring the light from the sword. He let out a deep sigh and closed the Bible. That was when he noticed the light as a tingling sensation grew over him like electric shocks sending goosebumps all over. He was stunned but wise enough not to touch it this time because it was red hot.
The scripture he just read came like a flood back to his mind echoing in his heart as it burned. It was so much that it gusted out of his lips. As he began reciting, the light shone brighter each time. Suddenly, he burst forth in tongues grinning. He was already waiting for the next time it would come, and it was about time.
As he spoke in tongues, the words of the scripture flowed through his mind. He was affirming them but in a different language. He had the familiar sensation of life gushing from his mouth with every breath. The searing hot light spread out in golden yellow as it had the night before causing his eyeballs to glow in the same effect as a reflection. It was amazing, but a part of him felt it was natural. Slowly, that part of him became more alive superimposing this reality over the normal, the supernatural over the natural.
Raymond soon discovered that he was no longer in his room, and his Bible was no longer in his hands. His lips did not move, but he heard the chants of his tongues in the background. His heart burned still, and his eyes still lit up.
The environment had a sparkling white background. It looked like a space of pure white which had no end and went out as far as the eyes could see. The light in the room was so tangible he could almost touch it; it felt like passing ones had through a pool of water only it was a pool of light. A person walked up to him with the appearance of a man.
'Welcome.' He said. Raymond turned to look, but out of His being came blinding light, so much that Raymond's eyes could not handle it even in their glorified form. He then realized that all the light in this space came from Him. Covering his line of vision with his hand, he bowed on one knee.
