After the battle had settled, Elra found herself searching the quiet shadows of the castle for a familiar presence. She finally spotted Zevran leaning casually against a stone wall, a faint smirk on his face as though he knew she would come.
"Zevran," she began, her voice carrying both curiosity and a trace of reproach. "I know it was you who tampered with the water supply. Why?"
He shrugged, his smirk softening into a wry smile. "It's true, our paths have diverged," he admitted, "but that doesn't mean I'll stop supporting you when I can. Call it my final gesture."
Elra raised an eyebrow, a hint of a smile playing on her lips. "Final gesture, is it?" she mused. "In that case, maybe I should make it worth your while." She tilted her head playfully. "I could send one of the castle's maids to you as a companion-they're skilled and rather attractive."
Zevran laughed, his amber eyes gleaming with amusement. "A generous offer, my dear Elra, but unnecessary. Besides, if you ever do find yourself in need of a companion-no matter who else holds your affections-just know the offer stands. A little... adventure never hurt anyone, after all."
Elra chuckled, shaking her head. "Tempting, as always, but I'll have to decline. Some things must be left in the past."
With a bittersweet smile, they shared a final, lingering kiss-a silent farewell, more acknowledgment than affection. When they parted, there was no sorrow, only mutual understanding. As Zevran slipped back into the shadows, Elra turned and made her way back to her forces, her heart a little heavier but her spirit bolstered by the quiet strength of closure.
After the execution of Eamon and with peace restored in Ferelden and her responsibilities as a Grey Warden stabilizing, Elra's thoughts began to shift toward companionship and a lasting connection. The battles and alliances had changed her, and she longed for someone who could share both her past and her vision of the future.
She chose Alder.
As the celebrations wound down and the evening fell over the capital, Elra was escorted to her chambers by Leliana, who gave her a warm embrace and a blessing. "May this be the beginning of a beautiful chapter for you," Leliana whispered, her voice filled with pride and affection for her friend.
Inside, waiting patiently, was Alder. The stoic mage's expression softened as he saw her enter, an unspoken understanding and respect shared between them after everything they had endured together. Elra moved toward him with quiet confidence, bridging the space between them and gently pressing her lips to his, sealing this long-awaited connection.
