MAYBE IT IS because the rain is pouring that Hinata felt a sense of melancholy. He just moved in yesterday and life in Brazil is proving to be hard and it hasn't started yet. He tried talking to his roommate but maybe because of the language barrier, Pedro was not paying attention to him. That's okay, he's not a genius so all he has to do is study hard in his Portuguese, his pronunciation was quite awkward when he greeted Pedro earlier so maybe that's why Pedro didn't pay him any heed.He was sitting on the floor with his back on the door while his head rest on his folded arms that sits on his kneecaps, as he looks on his window.
The rain is probably making me feel homesick.
Back in Japan his life was full of noise, especially when he was in school. He always yells and talks a lot, but here, his world is quiet, it's something that he is not used to. He's used to the clamor of his teammates, the yelling of his captain and the bickering he always had with the team's setter.
What are they up to right now? It's probably afternoon over there, should I call them?
He glanced at his phone that was laying on his bed.
No, no, no. I should get use to this.
He shook his head multiple times and then goes back on looking at the pouring rain outside his window.
Hinata fell asleep like that. He fell asleep to the sound of the rain outside, while feeling melancholic and homesick and before he closed his eyes a thought came to mind.
I miss everyone.
It's been a week and Hinata can proudly say that he has been adjusting to Brazilian life fairly well. He's working part time at a restaurant plus he's less intimidated by the people, contrary to his thoughts they're quite nice and friendly. He also started his training in beach volley which has proved to be much more harder than volleyball.
Hinata was about to go home, he was going to retrieve his bike from the parking but he heard a co-worker calling him.
"Yo, dude. Marco is inviting everyone to attend his cousin's piano contest, you comin'?" the one who asked was Carlos, at first glance he looks intimidating with his height and physique but Hinata notice how kind Carlos is, especially since he's one of the few people who talked to him first and is also the one helping him with his Portuguese.
"Sure, I have beach volley in the morning tomorrow, so I hope it's on the afternoon." Hinata answered, while he walks towards his bike and sat on it while he carefully removed it from being parked.
"It's in the afternoon, I think around 4pm or 5, Marco said it's going at the same place where his last cousin competed." with that, Carlos bid Hinata farewell and left.
Hinata starts pedaling, he was slowly but surely getting used to his life now. It wasn't as quiet as it was when he first got here, he has some friends now so he's coping good.
He get's down from his bike and started pushing it as he walks, he was planning to stopped by a convenience store to buy some food to munch on while he walks. Rio, was a bustling place, he likes how casual and open the people are. Though sometimes their too open to what he was used to.
While walking in search of a convenience store, Hinata spotted a familiar figure in the distance. So he ran to chase it, he wasn't sure if it was who he thinks it was but he hope it is.
"KANADE! KA-NA-DE!" Hinata yelled since he feared he might not catch up to her.
Her small frame turned around in respond to her name being called, with her eyebrows raised; wondering who called her and so loudly at that.
She didn't know why but amidst the countless people walking, she immediately noticed his orange hair, and then his eyes that instantly sparkled the moment her eyes met his, and then his mouth that was stopping a squeal but sporting a big 'ol smile.
"Hinata-senpai?" it was more of a question, as if she wasn't sure of whether what she was seeing is true, she was just thinking about the tangerine head afterall.
What the fuck?!
What the fuck?!
What the fuck?!
That was all she said in her head, she didn't know how to react to Hinata being here in Rio of all places. All she knew was that he was in Brazil, she thought he was at the capital which is Brasilia.
Despite being a wreck inside her head, her facial expression is surprisingly calm while Hinata talks about how surprise he was and how happy he was to see her.
" how long have you been here Kanade?" Hinata asked while they walked side by side.
"2 days, I'm competing here." she answered briefly, glad that her voice didn't crack from nervousness.
"Oh! Let's take a picture and send it to Kenma!" Hinata exclaimed, practically bouncing from happiness as he gets his phone in his backpack. Before he could get it Kanade handed her phone to him.
"let's take one in my phone so you won't have to rummage your bag, senpai." as she said so, Hinata smiled softly and started taking pictures of the both of them.
As he takes the last one, he puts her arms around her shoulder which caught her off guard, but she collected herself and smiled.
Calm thyself Kanade!
After taking pictures, and sharing their contacts, Hinata offered to walk her to where she was staying but she politely declined even though Hinata kept on insisting. Her reason was that she wasn't exactly going home, instead she was planning in going to the local ice rink, though it's basically a hockey arena.
As the two part ways, Hinata was ecstatic to know that someone he knows is nearby on the other hand someone can cook an egg on Kanade's face by how hot it was.
CALM THYSELF REIKA KANADE! YOU WERE REJECTED ALREADY!
