Hands represent so much to me
I feel like they tell you so much about a person
The marks
The scars
The veins or lack thereof
Just by looking at them you can tell so many things about the owner
The bruised knuckles of a fighter
The calloused palms of a construction worker
The nimble joints of an artist
Society believes that pretty means no flaws or impurities
I do not believe this to be true

Looking back now, the ones who cared for me the most and taught me so many things had the "Ugliest hands"

My uncle who taught me all about mechanics had oily bruised hands

My mother who raised me to the man I am today has slender calloused hands

And my partner, whose ring size is 11 and could snap a tree in half has wiped my tears and held me so gently
Those same hands that could destroy so much create so many beautiful things

I love "ugly hands"
I love the people connected to those hands
I love the story that they tell and the things they are capable of
The ugliest hands are always the kindest
