"Saturday. 1501 Sandstone Lane. 1am - 4am." It then listed a reminder to wear white and of the rules stated last night. Saturday? This Saturday? I hadn't expected it to be so soon. And four hours? I am not sure if I am relieved or not. I had originally thought it would be an all night thing.
I clutched the note to my chest as I scanned the parking lot, as if the person who broke into my car without setting off the alarm to put this here was still around.
"Hey, Mina!" An annoying voice called to me, followed by a car door shutting. I quickly stuff the letter into my bag, not needing a million questions about it where I would have to make up lies on the spot.
"Riki." I force a tight lipped smile as I turn around to face him. His tall frame towers over me as he leans against my car.
"Headed to campus?"
"I was." I don't try to hide my annoyance, but he pretended not to notice, as always.
"Isn't it awesome Taehun and I will be there with you now?"
"So awesome." I said. I tried to open the door I now regret shutting when I found the letter, but Riki slid over it.
"You are in a hurry. Are you late?" He cocked his head, a mischievous glint in his eye.
"Shouldn't you be running upstairs to get Taehun?"
"I will." He nodded, looking up at the building and then back at me, running a hand through his hair to get it out of his eyes. "Why don't you just ride with me then? Saves gas."
"I have seen how you drive, Riki. No thanks." I said, trying to pull on the handle to my car again.
"This thing is so little. If you get in an accident you are done for." He glances over my small pink VW bug. "My Jeep is safer."
"Why the sudden interest in my safety, Riki?"
"You are Taehun's sister." He shrugged as if it were simple.
"Go get Taehun and let me get to my class." I pushed his arm, trying to get him off my car.
"Fine fine." He conceded, pushing off of my car. "Be careful." He calls over his shoulder as he heads up toward the building.
As I watch Riki get to the entrance of our building, the doorman opening the door for him and smiling as he knows him, he casts another look back at me, smirking and gives a wink. What in the hell is that supposed to mean?
Come to think of it, how tall is Riki? Three of the wolves from that night had been taller. And one of the voices sounded familiar. I search my brain as I climb in the driver's seat. Was it Riki?
"Don't be stupid, Mina." I said to myself, shaking my head. I was being super paranoid.
Riki is a freshman with Taehun. He couldn't be a wolf. They were members of The Crimson Cloak, which you can't join as a full member until the start of your junior year, according to my mother's journals. Riki wasn't even someone they might consider, let alone use early. He was just being his usual annoying self and I was being paranoid.
Before I started my car, I plug in the address in the letter to my maps app and pull up an abandoned property, looked like a farm. Was this where I had been the other night? The property stretched on forever and there are no houses or anything around it.
How on Earth was I supposed to spend an entire night running from them? Should I go out early and plan? I don't want to go out there by myself.
"Mina." A knock at my window jolts me out of my head. I turn to see Taehun and Riki standing there, Taehun looking concerned. How long had I been sitting here?
