On October 31st, as children began to put on their costumes and Trick or Treat, Drew and Stacy planned to have the best Halloween ever. Drew had chips and chocolate in case kids knocked on his door, and his house was decorated. He was in the kitchen, prepping to make Halloween cupcakes with Stacy. He placed the ingredients, then the tray, until all he had to do was wait for her to arrive.
A few children stopped by for some treats and Drew didn't disappoint. "Trick or treat!" Two kids dressed up as a princess and a dinosaur held up their bags. "Well, uhm, Hi." Drew wasn't fond of kids and didn't know how to act with them, "Happy Halloween." He handed the children a generous amount of chips and chocolate as there weren't many children around the neighbourhood.
"Thank you!" The children ran to their parents who gave Drew a wave or smile. Once the parents moved away from view, he saw a blue-haired girl, his blue-haired girl.
"Stacy!" He jumped and waved, "Aw, you're happy to see me." She removed her shoes and skipped into his house, "Maybe it's just me and the fact that it's super cold out but your house is super warm." She hugged him and instead of pulling away, nuzzled her face into the crook of his neck. "Super duper warm," Drew giggled at her sudden display of affection but didn't complain.
He carried her over to the couch, "No, don't let go, no" she exaggerated her words. "Just sit for a second, I'll get you something to warm up before we make our cupcakes." Drew turned on the heat and then walked into the kitchen, a few minutes later, he returned with a cup of hot chocolate.
"I know this is more of a winter thing, but you love hot chocolate." Stacy's expression softened and she let out a little squeal, "Awh, Drew. You're the absolute sweetest, To me at least," she laughed softly. "Tell me when you feel warmer and we can start baking." Drew kissed her on the forehead and smiled at her before sitting down and handing her the hot chocolate. Stacy sipped the hot chocolate and smiled, "It's nice, Drew, thank you." she held the warm mug in her hands, The sweetness was there, but not too overpowering.
After finishing her hot chocolate, she set it down on the table and buried herself into the blankets, Drew looked over and smiled, "Awh, still cold?" he asked, moving a little closer. "Can I have one of your hoodies?" She asked with a slightly shy tone. He smiled, and stood up, "Of course." he ran upstairs and searched through his closet for a hoodie, he quickly grabbed one and returned to Stacy. "Here you go, Stace." He hands her the soft, fluffy hoodie and she pulls it over her shirt. "It's so fluffy, Thank you, Drew."
"Do you want to start baking now?" Drew asked her, excited about baking and eating cupcakes. "Sure," Drew helped her up and they walked over to his kitchen. They washed their hands and Drew grabbed the recipe,
"Okay, Stacy, Can you mix the cake flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt?" Drew asked while he preheated the oven. While Stacy whisked the dry ingredients, Drew took out a stand mixer and mixed butter, and sugar. Stacy had already finished her part so she helped Drew add the egg whites, vanilla extract, and sour cream.
"Wow, This is actually working," Drew seemed surprised. " Why are you so shocked, together we can do anything, even rule the world," Stacy giggled, "If we could rule the world, we would." Drew was his overconfident self, Stacy found it hilariously stupid when he would bring out that act but she loved it.
"The batter looks good," Drew took the bowl out and showed it to Stacy. "Oh that looks ready," She took it and gave it a stir, "Yup, it's ready." They poured it into the tray and put it into the oven, "Now we wait." Drew stared at the oven, "Drew! we have to make the frosting!" Stacy was jumping in excitement.
"Stacy, Stacy, Stacy." Drew had to calm her down, "Stacy, Stacy!" She finally returned to reality, "We don't need to make it we just need to dye it." Stacy decided that she was too calm and started to jump and squeal. "Yay!"
Drew picked her up and set her on the couch, he grabbed the blanket and threw it over her. "Aah! Drewbie! No!" She shuffled around under the blankets before surfacing, his plan did work and she calmed down. "Guess you've come down from your sugar high or whatever that was." he handed her a cup of water and left to go back to the kitchen. "Guess I shouldn't have had all that candy before coming over," She thought.
Stacy stood up and walked back over to Drew, who had already put the frosting in bowls to dye. "Hey, You feeling better?" he asked, a hint of concern in his voice. "Yeah, this is why sugar is bad for you, I'm still going to eat a bunch of it though." She laughed softly.
Drew handed her some dye, "Make whatever colours you want with these." Stacy wanted to stay with the Halloween theme so did an orange, a green, and a black. Drew made a blue and magenta to symbolize them because he thought it would be cute.
They filled the piping bags and talked on the couch while they waited for the cupcakes to finish. "My cousin Tim once set fire to two houses," Stacy said calmly, trying to strike up a conversation. "What!?" Drew just stared at her while she acted completely normal, "Yeah, he wanted to watch Paw Patrol but the adults said no." She swung her legs back and forth like this was a normal conversation.
The oven beeped and Drew and Stacy ran over, Drew opened the oven and they admired the cupcakes. "Yay, They're so cupcakey," Stacy exclaimed. "I'm still invested in your cousin committing arson over Paw Patrol, I need the full story." Drew giggled as he took out the tray of cupcakes with a cloth. "They look good," he carried it to the table and set it down beside the piping bags.
"Be careful, they're still hot," He instructed. Stacy grabbed a cupcake and began decorating it with blue and white frosting and sprinkles. "Look Drew, It's me." Drew smiled at her and showed his cupcake with magenta and black decor. "Here's me," He grabbed another cupcake and began drawing a pumpkin. After decorating for a while, there were only two left. They did a plain blue and magenta but Stacy wanted to add more. She took the blue one and drew a bunny on it, She reached for the magenta one but realized that she didn't have the colour she needed.
She mixed a few colours which made a brown, and then began drawing a bear. She added the finishing touches and looked proud of her work, "Isn't it cute?" She presented them to Drew, "Awh, those look nice."
"Now, can we eat them?" she looked at him hopefully, "Okay, but only one. We want to save them, don't we?" He gave the okay to start and Stacy happily began eating the cupcakes. "Yay! They taste so good! We are the best at this!" Stacy continues eating the cupcake until they've both finished.
"That was so worth it! I love spending time with you, even if it's something mundane." Stacy praised. "In what world is making cupcakes mundane?" Drew smiled, "I loved this too, I love you." Drew turned pink. "Awh, Drew, You're so cheesy." She teased "I love you too." For the rest of the night, Drew and Stacy talked, handed out candy to children, and simply enjoyed each other's company.
