~Evelyn~

A wave of pain erupted inside Evelyn, her vision started to get blurry. A speck of gold shined through the blur.

"Well, well, who do we have here eh?" said a voice that sent chills down Evelyn's spine. "Principal Williams?" asked Evelyn, trembling.

"Yes, yes my darling, now, will you do me a favor and allow me to deliver a silent kill?" Principal Williams

Evelyn was confused, yet terrified. She looked around her, and saw her shoulder, and it was bleeding pretty badly. She was about to collapse until a familiar voice called her name....

"Evelyn?" It was Amber's voice. Evelyn woke up in a jolt. She had a bit of cold sweat running down her forehead. She lay back down and thought in her head, It's just a dream, It's just a dream....

She climbed out of bed and checked her surroundings. She looked at her shoulder, and found... a gold shard deep in her skin.

Blood was starting to spill out of the deep cut and her light blue shirt was now stained in red at the sleeve. Evelyn screamed, then

gasped. A tiny piece of gold paper was glued to the small shard of gold, it read; I await you and your friends. The edges were splattered with blood.

Footsteps were heard as someone went up the wooden stairs towards her room.

"What was that noise?" Amber brushed away the curtains and ran into her room. "I heard a noise and came to check–"Amber had spotted the cut.

"I had a nightmare and then I woke up and.... And it was just there." she finished. "I don't know what happened."

"Umm, I'll get you the uh- first aid kit." Amber scurried downstairs quickly and brought out a med kit and took out a white roll of cloth.

Amber slowly put her shaking fingers on the shard. "Uhm, I don't think I can do it. I'm afraid I'll mess up because I have Hemophobia. Can you do it?" Amber asked.

"Sure," replied Evelyn. She put her hand on the gold shard, which was splattered with blood.

The second she put the slightest force on the shard, Evelyn felt the worst pain she felt yet. She quickly pulled the shard out to stop the pain.

"Ow!" She yelled. Amber wrapped the white silky cloth around

Evelyn's cut.

Evelyn couldn't hold it in anymore, she blurted out every single detail of the dream she had.

"Evelyn, I don't want to freak you out, but I had a similar dream last night." Amber confessed.

Evelyn stared at Amber as the silence continued until Amber spoke again.

"But that's not even the scary part." Amber started. "One of my gifts is precognition, having visions or prophecies of the future. So our dreams are probably..."

"Prophecies of the future," Evelyn finished.

Evelyn decided to have a quick warm shower to calm herself after her shoulder's bleeding stopped. She came out of the shower wearing her fluffy blue bathrobe. She then began her simplified Korean Skincare routine to keep her skin soft, and put on strawberry lip balm to keep her lips from cracking this winter.

Evelyn walked out of the bathroom.

"Is your shoulder doing fine?" Amber was already in full uniform.

"Yeah, I feel like this could be connected to the incident from last night." Evelyn thought back to last night. The charging orb... does it...?

"I think we should just try to not get involved with the school's electricity." Amber suggested.

"Yeah, maybe we were just both a little stressed, " Evelyn said.

"I know right? I was thinking about making a smoothie before breakfast to calm myself down. Do you want one?" asked Amber.

"Yeah sure, thanks." replied Evelyn.

Amber started grabbing a couple fruits from the fridge while Evelyn went upstairs to change into her uniform. Her cozy bedroom had a closet next to the giant window that overlooked the streets of Boston. Evelyn poked her head into the closet. She moved a couple hangers over. At the right of the hangers she spotted the uniform. She slid the uniform blouse over her head, then she put on everything else including a knitted, pink sweater, and pink bow under her white collar.

She walked down the stairs where Amber was waiting at the front door with two smoothies in her hands. As Evelyn joined her, she gave Evelyn a special, extra healthy smoothie in a glass. She took a sip. The smoothie was quite refreshing, a strawberry, banana, raspberry smoothie. Once they'd finished the smoothies and packed their bags for class, they finally made their way out of their dorm.

"Let's go check our schedules once we're at breakfast," Evelyn suggested as they walked down the quartz stairs.

"Sure, I'm kinda afraid that I'll get lost here." Amber looked up at the ceiling as if thinking of something very important.

The two went inside the dining hall to order breakfast. Today's menu was gourmet pancakes, fruity sweet yogurt, and basil-egg omelets. Evelyn ordered the Yogurt, and Amber got the omelet. The yogurt container looked like one of those fancy wine glasses she often saw at important events her grandparents attended, but bigger. When they found a place to sit and finished their breakfast quickly, they both pulled out their schedules.

"Hmm, I have Art class in 20 minutes at 9:00, History at 10:00, Literature 11:00, Lunch at 12:00, Math 1:00 Biology at 2:00, and finally Gifted training at 3:00 until 4:00. How about you?" Evelyn asked Amber after she finished looking over her schedule.

"I have Journalism at 9:00, training from 10:00 to 11:00, Lunch at 11:00 to 12:00, History at 12:00, Math at 1:00, Biology at 2:00, Orchestra practice at 3:00, and finally Psychology." Amber read.

"I didn't know you were taking psychology," Evelyn realized.

"Oh, I've been learning some psychology since 3rd grade in my free time. Now, I can finally take official lessons." Amber explained.

"That sounds fun!" said Evelyn. The class bell rang. It was 8:50 am now.

"Well, see you at Math?" asked Evelyn.

"Yeah! bye Evelyn!" said Amber running off to Journalism, her white smiley face tote bag over her shoulder.

Evelyn grabbed her own blue fluffy book bag and headed off to Art.
