Marching ahead, her dream seems more and more real, more palpable. The house is small and kept, the brush around it is vibrant green and wild, the flowers that line all round the modest abode glitter in the night sky. Faded light seeps through the foggy glass of the windows, small shadows pace brazen behind them.
She looks all around, besides a rustic home, there's a couple more buildings, forgotten by time as well, yet not by man. A tiny barn catches her eye, all made of uneven lumber on top of granite cobblestones.
"I remember", she mutters to herself, sizing up the barn
"I forgot", she sighs at the sight of feathers decorating the bare cobblestones
In the other corner of the yard, far from everything, she spots a shed, same uneven lumber, same foggy glass, same feeling of being at-home. A grub axe waits patiently, leaning on the wall and a shovel lays besides on the barren dirt.
"I know", she whispers, gaining hope as she moves closer
She moves closer, then coils herself to leap, like a feline waiting to pounce. With a gentle yet definite jump, the fox finds herself on top of the shed. Smooth shingles, weathered by rain, are found by her soft paws to not be unpleasant.
This will do as a place to lay down for the weary soul, hopefully in silence, yet nature can't promise anything. As minutes pass, the atmosphere gets joyous once more. The crickets, after having prepared all day, start their melancholic concert.
Small pebbles of light, specks of white and a faint streak of multiple colors paint the tar sky. She looks around, mesmerized by the sky, by the setting giant, by the pure maiden that raises.
She drifts asleep, holding her bushy tail with the front paws and resting her head on them. The noises all around get further and further away, until silence. She drifts asleep content, dreaming of another day, another sight, another kin.
The night embraces her as the lights from other foggier windows get dimmer and nothing can be seen in the sea of tar.
