FIVE. A few weeks passed, with Quinn visiting Peter regularly as always. He was moved between the nursing home and hospital regularly for checkups so she planned her days accordingly.Till he suddenly disappeared from his residency at the nursing home without a trace.
The girl was beyond worried. She quickly left his room at the home. On her way out she stopped by the front desk to ask what attendant had last seen him.
"The last attendant would have been his nurse when she was doing his check up. I believe her names Jennifer," The woman supplied.
The woman at the desk then mentioned someone named Derek, his only listed family contact. Who had visited just a day before.
With that information she began the walk to the station to report him missing, just in case this Derek character hadn't.
As she got closer to the station, Quinn began to feel more paranoid than usual, like something was wrong.... Like something or someone was watching her.
Quinn speed up, at least she had already been heading to the police station.
She grabbed the front door to the entrance, only for someone to grab her wrist making a quiet involuntary shriek leave her cold lips.
"It's late out and dark. A girl your age shouldn't be walking alone in the cold."
Her eyebrows knit together in confusion as her eyes focused on the marveling sight before her.
"Peter?" She was visibly surprised at his appearance.
"But you— how?" She's beyond confused and a bit elated. After all she had spent quite a portion of her life at Peters bedside, reading to him or just talking. Even if he hadn't exactly asked her too.
"It's a long story.... And I'll tell you all about it. Come on little one," he says letting go of her wrist and walking off.
She glances at the station then back at his shrinking form.
Despite her typically fair judgment. Her favoritism for Peter, just from having talked to his comatose self all these years. Seems to overwhelm her better senses and leads her to follow him.
Peter smiles to himself when he hears the soft patter of her shoes trying to catch up with him.
She reaches his side, speed walking to keep up with his long strides.
He hides his pervious little smile behind a more stoic look.
"So how did you get here? I mean you've been paralyzed for years. I know first hand because well I was there—" she stops her little rant and awaits his response. Realizing she shouldn't ask so many questions all at once.
"Sorry, I'll let you answer."
"You're curious, you like asking questions and that's good. It means people won't take you for a sucker." He congratulates the girl.
"Thank you?" She says in turn, unsure how she feels about his bleak take on human nature.
"And I... got better." He answers her earlier question. "You wanna know how?" He inquires and she nods vehemently at the question.
"Obviously!" She exclaimed excitedly.
"Well... I made myself stronger, quicker, more powerful." He began as they walked side by side. She kept skittering slightly to keep up with him so he subtly slowed his pace to make it easier on her.
"How?" Quinn seemed to find herself repeatedly asking.
"I'm a werewolf," He says. She blinks harshly in surprise as she attempted to process it. Stopping in her steps.
Peter pauses as well, patiently awaiting her response.
"Oh, cool." She spoke after a moment, staring unblinkingly as he stood before her.
"Cool?" He repeated confusedly as it was now his turn to furrow his eyebrows.
"Cool." She echos back.
"Is that your favorite word or some crap?" He asked.
"You know, normal people just say shit," she adhered.
"Hey, watch your mouth." He scolds the young girl. She raised a brow.
"Let's just focus on your insanely impressive change up. You know, the whole werewolf thing," Quinn replied.
"Not a thing." He replied quickly.
"Whatever. Just explain, how you became a werewolf!" She excitedly questioned.
"You're not scared? Any rational person would be." He replied.
"I'm not very rational. Besides, I've always hoped the supernatural was real. Why hope for something without even the slightest expectance of it to be true." She responds.
Peter nods slightly at the idea, understanding where she was coming from. "Alright then." He said.
"To answer your earlier question, I was born a werewolf. But I just became an Alpha a few months ago. Which is what fixed me up over time." He tells her.
"So you can move up in ranks." She notes aloud.
He chuckled lightly at her. "In a sense. Now for the real question." Peter begins.
"Do you want it?" He asked carefully.
"Want it?" She echos back, confused by whatever 'it' might be.
"The bite. It'll turn you into a werewolf. You'll be like me. Stronger, faster, more confident, powerful than you could've ever achieved on your own." He pitches to the girl.
"...and the consequences?" She asked after a few silent moments of contemplation.
He smirked slightly. "Smart girl." He appraised.
"Thanks. Now answer me." She demanded weary of the answer.
"It's what'd you think it'd be. You'll turn every full moon. You'll be irritable the week before the full moon, it'll be hard to control at first. You'll have a bloodlust in the beginning, along with heightened anger issues. You'll have to control your anger." He listed for her.
"...So it's literally just having a period every full moon?" She said shifting in her spot.
He laughs slightly at her comparison. "Essentially." He retorts.
"Wonderful. Sign me up. I'll actually get benefits for this one." She tells him.
He hid the smile his lips attempted to show as best he could. "Don't worry. I'll give you a hand with it all. I'll guide you. You'll be part of my pack," he advised.
"Okay..." She nods as she agreed to it.
"For reference i usually do think things through more," She feels the need to add on.
"I know." He says shortly and she looks up at him, confused by the statement.
"What? Did you think I couldn't hear you all those times you spent speaking to me. You kept me entertained for two years and for that I'm grateful." He reluctantly admitted.
Peter wasn't one for touchy-feely moments and Quinn could tell. So she soaked in the praise before moving on.
"Right. So how does this work exactly?" She asked him, shuffling slightly in her spot.
"Patience is a virtue little one." He gently reprimanded.
"Why do you keep calling me that?" She inquired.
"Little one?" He repeated for clarification.
"Yeah that." She says.
"It's a term of endearment.
You're gonna be part of my pack, which is just like a family. Got it?""Got it." His new little protégé nods firmly.
