The ride home was mostly silent. The two souls had so much to say to each other, yet the air was flat and bitter.
That was, until – Argos spoke up.
"Look," He sighed, pulling his hoodie sleeve up to cover his hand, "I'm sorry, okay?"
The car was silent as the tall man glanced back at Argos – Pensive, and rather regretful. His hoodie fell off as he looked back at the silent man.
"I didn't know you didn't feel the same. I don't know why I thought you'd have feelings for me too." Argos' hand gripped his forehead, "It was stupid. I get it if you don't wanna be friends anymore."
Suddenly, though – The car pulled over to the side of the road. The silence became flat, and Mr. Plant glanced back at Argos – His eyes welled with tears.
Argos' gaze softened. He froze – Unable to process that, he was in fact the cause of his tears. And finally, Argos heard a voice he hadn't heard in what seemed like years –
"Who wouldn't like you?"
Argos flinched. He gave a small, involuntary gasp, his breathing hushed as his apprehensive fidgeting came to an abrupt halt. Did he just... Speak?
".. I .."
He froze, unsure of what to say. He was at a stalepoint – Did he mean what he said? Mr. Plant hates talking, Argos thought to himself, his eyes stuck on him, So why would he waste his voice... Just to lie?
But the flat air was all of a sudden replaced with a warm, tight embrace from Mr. Plant. He hugged Argos tight, as if never even planning on letting go.
And so the silence was prolonged – Thin air trapped in the warm, tight embrace of each other profoundly.
Argos let go, holding onto Mr. Plant's arms. He gazed into his inky eyes for a moment – Before giving a soft, warm smile and loosening his grip on his arms.
"...Why are we like this?" He uncontrollably giggled, burying his face into Mr. Plant's chest. Argos wiped the warm, pristine tears from his eyes at once, surprising Mr. Plant with a content sigh. "Do you–"
"Do you wanna watch movies at my place?" Argos pulled away, still holding his arms tight. Mr. Plant nodded, his constant harsh smile gentle for once – And although it seemed the emptiness shall be replaced with tears among the midst of his empty eyes, his dark inky pupils still contrasted with the pearly white hue of his scleras.
And with that, Argos grabbed Mr. Plant's hand, intertwining their fingers, and pulling him along. He felt the warmth of his hand against his own, and nearly tripped before slowing to a stop in the parking lot when it started to rain.
"Ah... Should we get a taxi?" Argos displayed a sheepish grin. Mr. Plant nodded, and whilst yet they were supposed to leave, they remained staring into each other's eyes. Argos' crystal irises met with Mr. Plant's pools of ink, the thick liquid drowning the rhinestones that hugged onto his face. Argos' pitch black eyes glimmered in the
city lights, and he took out his phone to call a taxi. They both stepped into the yellow car, sitting in silence as the city's luminescence swept amidst of the night, perfectly contrasted with Mr. Plant's gaze as it softened for the first time in what had seemed like a hundred years.
