The low hum of Felix's TV buzzed softly as he sifted through his stack of DVDs, finally selecting a classic action thriller he'd seen a dozen times but that always managed to keep him entertained. A sly smile played on his lips as he held up the case for Hyunjin's approval, raising an eyebrow challengingly. "I hope you're not afraid of a little adrenaline."
Hyunjin returned his smile, that familiar glint of mischief lighting up his gaze. "Adrenaline doesn't scare me, kitten." His tone was low, teasing, but Felix could feel the weight of it, a slow crawl over his skin that left his cheeks a shade warmer. Not to be outdone, he smirked, brushing off the small flutter in his chest.
He spun around, heading to the kitchen to make popcorn, glancing over his shoulder. "I'll be back," he called, grabbing a large bowl and loading it up with buttery kernels. As he waited for the popping sounds to slow, he set out an assortment of snacks, feeling a slight pang of self-consciousness about his setup. He couldn't imagine someone like Hyunjin getting excited over popcorn and candy, but he shrugged it off, piling it all onto a tray. Tonight, he was going to keep this banter going; after all, he had a feeling Hyunjin didn't back down easily—and neither did he.
Returning to the living room, he found Hyunjin watching him, a playful yet guarded expression hovering just below his usual impassive gaze. Felix walked over, setting the tray between them on the table. Without glancing at him, he settled onto the couch across from Hyunjin, leaning back as he placed the popcorn on his lap, trying to keep the evening casual even though his mind kept reminding him of what had transpired just last night in this very room.
Hyunjin chuckled softly, his voice breaking through the silence. "Don't worry," he teased, his tone edged with that infuriating confidence, "I don't bite. You can sit closer."
Felix rolled his eyes, his heart skipping a beat. "I'll take my chances," he shot back, unable to suppress the smirk tugging at the corners of his lips. He shifted closer, tucking his legs up on the couch and trying to ignore the low thrum of his pulse. Offering the bowl with an indifferent shrug, he murmured, "Here, though I doubt this is your kind of snack."
He felt Hyunjin's gaze linger on him, a subtle, almost possessive look that made Felix shift uncomfortably. "I'm not as predictable as you think," Hyunjin replied, taking a handful of popcorn, his fingers grazing Felix's just briefly. The contact was innocent, but Felix's pulse raced all the same, an electric spark in the small brush of skin.
As the movie started, the flickering light cast a warm glow over the room, and Felix found himself struggling to stay focused on the screen. His mind drifted to the events of last night—the scenes he hadn't even been able to fully process. The intensity of the lead character, whose features eerily mirrored Hyunjin's, had drawn Felix in. He'd indulged himself far too freely, lost in the imagined darkness that Hyunjin himself now occupied, unaware his own quiet walls had been witness to his desires. But now, with the real Hyunjin beside him, the unspoken shame washed over him in waves. Every fiber of his being fought to brush those memories aside, yet his cheeks warmed with every replay in his mind.
Hyunjin shifted beside him, stretching his legs in that broad, lazy sprawl, and Felix could sense his gaze, steady and assessing. Hyunjin's mere presence had Felix's heart hammering, the confidence with which he commanded his space a tangible force that made it impossible for Felix to relax fully. The air felt thick, each of them caught in their thoughts while they pretended to watch the film.
Hyunjin leaned forward, grabbing a handful of popcorn, his fingers brushing against Felix's again. A quiet chuckle escaped his lips. "You look tense, kitten," he whispered, his tone laced with dark amusement. "Didn't think a movie would get you this worked up."
