One: "I Promise!"

(A/N: I have to apologize for the horrendous writing, this chapter. You can probably see what I was trying to do with the Kyuubi attack, but my execution was terrible. I'll probably rewrite it when I have a better understanding of the Naruto universe. Additionally, I'm not feeling my best as of writing this, so that just adds to the mix. Please forgive me.)

Kushina screamed in pain, shaking as she gripped the rods on the table with her Uzumaki strength. "It hurts, you know!"

"Is she... alright?" Minato asked, voice unexpectedly timid and nervous. This was a man who had faced hundreds of enemies including the Raikage in war, but seeing his wife in pain was more stressful than all of those encounters combined.

Biwako Sarutobi sat in front of Kushina, ready to receive the baby. "She's alright," Biwako said, sweating. "You're the fourth Hokage, act like it!"

Minato clenched his teeth, resting his hands on Kushina's stomach. The seal thereon was shifting as Kurama tried his best to take advantage of the moment and escape, but Kushina held strong. She focused on the love she felt for her still-unborn child, and it gave her the strength to continue.

"Hang in there, Kushina," Minato said, clenching his teeth as he looked at his wife. He turned to her belly. "Hang in there, Naruto!" Kushina continued to scream in pain and exertion, pushing with everything she had.

Hirohito sat in the corner of the room, eyes open and focused on the scene playing outside the building. Obito had arrived, and was slaughtering the ANBU. He stood and drew his kunai, ready to act at a moment's notice. His chakra coils flared within him, pumping chakra into every muscle in his body.

"Come out quickly, Naruto!" Minato cheered, stress evident on his face. A few moments later, the sounds of a baby crying could be heard, and Kushina relaxed. Minato wiped away the tears in his eyes and he laughed, looking at the baby in awe. His child. "I'm a father today."

He reached for the boy, swaddled in a blanket, but Biwako turned away from him. "Don't touch him! The mother sees him first."

She rested the baby on the table next to Kushina's face. "I finally got to see you..." she smiled.

"How are you feeling, Kushina?" Minato asked as Hirohito jumped into action. He leaped through the air as subsonic speeds, clashing blades with Obito before he could slash Biwako's neck. The sound of the steel clashing drew Minato's attention, and Obito backed away a step, Naruto in his arm.

"Let go of him!" Biwako shouted, moving to attack the masked man, but Hirohito pulled her behind him protectively.

"Get away from the Jinchuriki," the masked man ordered, holding his kunai to Naruto's face. "Don't you care what happens to your kid?"

Minato moved to attack, and Obito threw Naruto up into the air as he dissappeared, having left explosive tags on the baby's swaddle. Minato caught Naruto and noticed the tags before ripping the blanket off as he teleported away. An explosion rang out nearby.

"You won't take her!" Hirohito shouted, launching himself at Obito as he appeared next to Kushina to grab her. He channeled chakra into the shrinking kunai, but the masked man easily blocked Hirohito's kunai and deflected him to the side before grabbing Kushina and disappearing with her, leaving behind a kunai that was shrinking to the size of a thumb tack. "Damn it!"

"Hirohito-Kun," Biwako said. "Thank you for saving me. You need to get back to the village and warn Hiruzen about what happened here, so he can send backup. It's up to Minato to keep Kushina and Naruto safe, because we can't do anything to help him. You're fast, so you have to leave now."

"Got it," Hirohito nodded, rushing out of the room. He ran as fast as he could back towards the village, channeling chakra to his legs to speed himself up. "ANBU!" He shouted as soon as he came into the village, and one of them appeared next to him. "The Hokage needs reinforcements! There's been an attack!" The ANBU disappeared in a cloud of smoke, and Hirohito continued running towards the center of the village. Sure enough, the Kyuubi appeared just as he arrived, destroying a building and squashing some people with a wave of his paw.
