" Mom, I'm back!" I announced, heading to the kitchen, where she must be.
" What's the time Jo??" She asked, immediately I walked into the kitchen.
I glanced at my wrist watch " 4:30pm"
She turned to me, folding her arms against her chest with a stern expression." What time did school dismiss?"
Are you being serious right now, Mom?.
I almost shouted, almost." What on earth is smelling this good? " I inquired, completely dismissing her question.
" You still haven't answered my question, Jo!"she snapped persistently.
" What?" I huffed, playing dumb.
She shot me a murderous glare " Don't play dumb with me Jo. I repeat. What time did school dismiss?"
" 3pm" I replied, hoping it will all end there, but it didn't.
"3pm and you are coming home 4:30pm huh?" She yelled and I remained quiet, resisting the urge to roll my eyes at her.
She continued" This isn't the first time you're returning from school late Jo, tell me. Are you seeing someone?"Immediately those words left her lips, I began to laugh.
She scrunched up her brow at me with a bewildered expression.
"Like seriously?" I managed out, trying to catch up my breath.
"Yes, it's obvious you are seeing someone and you are trying to keep it a secret from me "
"Well, I'm not."
" So? You just decide to keep showing up late huh??"
" No. I do stay back to watch the boys play football "I confessed, actually not telling her the reason behind my stay back.
" So they play football everyday after school ends? "
I rolled my eyes at no one in particular" Yeah"
" They lack handwork, just like you" she said, turning her back to me.
" I'll act like i didn't hear that" I said heading to the cabinet to grab a cookie. I grabbed a cookie and got on the isle "So? What are you cooking?" I asked, staring at her as she shredded cabbage.
" Chinese fried rice. Our new neighbors would be joining us for dinner tonight, you better go freshen up before they arrive" she said.
"Geez! " I exclaimed. I got on my feet and began to pump my fist in the air, without realizing I was over reacting.
"Why the sudden excitement?" Mom's voice snapped me back to reality.
" Nothing" I lied, panting heavily like someone who just finished running a marathon race.
She narrowed her eyes at me, obviously not buying my lie." It's obvious it's something Jo. "
" It's nothing Mom. I wasn't actually rejoicing over what you just said I..."my voice trailed off as I didn't know what to say next" look Mom, it's not what it looks like, I got so excited cause —"
"Cause! Cause!. Cause what?. You better go freshen up before they arrive. I bet you won't like him to see you like this "
" Mom? " I huffed, walking to the exit.
" Where something nice, so he won't turn down your offer to ride his d*ck, okay!" She shouted.
I inwardly snorted.
She won't seize to amaze me.
Thank God, I didn't tell her about Austin.
Cause, if I'd and she finds out he's our neighbors son. She'll definitely prank me to death.
