Chaehoon

Chaewon wakes up seeing that sunghoon was already awake waiting for her to wake up

"Morning sleepyhead!"
"What time is it?"
"Ehem I didn't bring my phone nor my watch so I dont know"
"What will we do now?"
"Go down" he says while helping her get up
"Shit!"

They exchanged nervous glances as the darkness of the staircase loomed before them. Chaewon’s heart raced, and a mix of fear and curiosity washed over her.

Do we really want to go down there?” she asked, her voice barely a whisper.

“Honestly?” Sunghoon replied, glancing back at the now-still fountain. “No. But we’ve come this far. We can’t turn back now.”

Taking a deep breath, Chaewon nodded, and they stepped onto the first step of the staircase. As they descended, the air grew colder and denser, and the sound of their footsteps echoed ominously. Each step felt like it was taking them deeper into the heart of the maze—into its secrets.

The staircase twisted and turned, finally leading them to a dimly lit chamber. Flickering torches lined the walls, casting dancing shadows that seemed to come alive as they entered. In the center of the room was a circular pedestal, and on it lay an ancient-looking book, its pages fluttering as if beckoning them closer.

“Do you think it’s safe to touch it?” Chaewon asked, her gaze fixed on the book. “What if it’s cursed or something?”

“Only one way to find out,” Sunghoon said, his curiosity getting the better of him. He approached the pedestal, cautiously reaching out for the book.

As his fingers brushed against the cover, the room filled with an eerie whisper, the sound echoing in their minds “The past reveals the future.”

Chaewon felt a shiver run down her spine. “What does that even mean?”

“I think it means we should open it,” Sunghoon replied, flipping the book open. The pages were filled with old drawings and strange symbols, each one more cryptic than the last.

“Look!” Chaewon pointed to one of the illustrations, which depicted a similar black rose. “It’s the same as the one from the fountain!”

Maybe it’s a clue about the maze?” Sunghoon suggested, flipping through more pages.

“Wait, there’s something here.” He stopped at a page that showed a map of the maze, marked with various symbols and paths.

“Okay, this is getting interesting,” Chaewon said, stepping closer to examine the map.

“But what does this mean for us?”

Before Sunghoon could answer, the torches flickered violently, and the whispers grew louder, swirling around them like a gust of wind. “You must choose wisely,” the voices hissed. “The rose holds power, but it demands a price.”

“What price?” Chaewon asked, panic creeping into her voice.

But the whispers faded, leaving only the sound of their breathing in the now-still chamber. Sunghoon frowned, looking back at the book. “We have to find out what it means by ‘the rose holds power.’ Maybe it can help us navigate the maze.”

Chaewon’s brow furrowed. “But what if it means we have to give something up? Like a memory or… something worse?”

Sunghoon took a deep breath, clenching the black rose tightly. “We’ll face that when we get to it. For now, let’s see what else this book can tell us.”
