Imagine it...the ringing sound of security alarms, the scent of the night filling your nostrils with each lengthy breath, the shouting of police authorities, and most of all...the adrenaline rush of the chase. This is the life of a thief. Yeah, I could probably steal anything without getting caught, but sometimes the slip of the hand and the breaking of glass is just all the more satisfying.
It was late summer. The night was humid and damp. Not too hot and too breezy. It was the perfect, quiet night for a perfect, maybe not so quiet chase. It was simple, break into the jewelers and steal that lovely gold necklace with a lovely diamond ankh around it. Simply beautiful. I've always been a fan of the Egypt type of jewelry. In fact, it was the only type of jewelry I stole. So, with the thought of adding it to my wonderful collection, I went on my way to the small jewelry store to take what I believe is rightfully mine. I never stole for money unlike most. I stole for the fun of it. And out of all...um...well I seem to have lost count, but all this time that I've been a thief, I've never been caught.

Each step I take gets me more and more excited. The only thing on my mind is so close and almost so far.
I ran on the rooftops through the dark of the night. My eyes had adjusted surprisingly well over the years. I had no problem finding my way and in a little under 20 minutes I had arrived. My heart began to pound from excitement. It was the only thing I could hear in the quiet store. I sometimes though that there was someone behind me, but it was only me. I inched closer to the case where the necklace should be laid. I licked my lips and took my tiny flashlight out of my belt. Turning it on with the push of a finger, I gazed into the glass to find it
Not
Sitting
There.
'What?! How could this be? It was supposed to be here. In this exact spot. I came earlier today, I even asked the jeweler about it in to which the dumbass said it literally just sits there!' I thought angrily to myself.
In a fit of rage I lifted the glass top and smashed it on the ground causing the alarm to ring. I kicked the podium and ran out of the dumb store.
'It doesn't make sense...why wasn't it there?'
I had ran so fast and I didn't even realize it. I was on the sidewalk, looking shady as ever and for once I didn't even care. 'That necklace was mine. It had my name written all over it. How could it not be where-' my thoughts were interrupted when I ran into someone else, bringing us both to the ground. Too angry to care, I immediately stood up and was about to run again when something caught my eye. A sparkle of some kind reflected from something in the strangers pocket. My eyes widened and I quickly grabbed them by their hair and pinned them against the wall.
"What is that thing in your pocket," I spat out. To my surprise, the voice that answered me was feminine.
"What the fuck? Who are you? What is your problem?"I rolled my eyes and got out my flashlight again to shine it on my victim. Not going to lie, her eyes were a brilliant brown (much like my own.)She too wore a black mask and hat, though I could see her caramel brown hair flow down her shoulders. No excuses though. She has what I want and she's going to give it to me.
"Could you maybe not shine that light on my eyes for so long?" The stranger said in an annoyed tone. She moved her free hand to knock the flashlight out of my hand but grabbed her wrist and growled.
"That isn't a good idea my dear. Something like that could get you hurt," I whispered darkly into her ear after I clicked off the flashlight. "Now hand over that necklace and I'll let you go."
