The day before the Hogwarts Express was set to depart, Hermione dedicated her time to her parents, wanting to savor every moment before she headed back to school. They transformed the kitchen into a whirlwind of activity, laughter, and delicious aromas as they spent hours baking a variety of treats to take with her on the train.

“Let’s start with some of your favorites,” Elaine suggested, pulling out a well-worn recipe book. “How about chocolate chip cookies and some of those lemon bars you love?”

“Yes, and we should make some muffins too! They’ll be perfect for breakfast on the train,” Hermione added, her eyes lighting up at the thought.

As they gathered ingredients, Michael joined them, rolling up his sleeves. “I’ll handle the cookies! Hermione, why don’t you help your mum with the lemon bars?” he said with a smile, clearly excited about the baking project.

“Deal!” Hermione agreed, as she measured flour and sugar, trying to remember the last time they had spent so much time together in the kitchen. The rhythmic sounds of mixing and the sweet scent of baking filled the air, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

“Remember when you tried to make those cookies by yourself and ended up with dough all over the kitchen?” Elaine chuckled, recalling a childhood mishap.

Hermione laughed, her cheeks flushing slightly. “I was young and ambitious! I thought I could take on the world, one cookie at a time.”

After hours of baking, the kitchen counter was laden with an array of goodies: chocolate chip cookies, lemon bars, blueberry muffins, and even a couple of chocolate éclairs that Michael insisted on making as a surprise. They carefully packaged the treats in containers, making sure they were ready for the journey ahead.

“Don’t forget to leave some for the other students,” Elaine reminded her, playfully swatting Hermione’s hand as she reached for another cookie.

“Oh, come on! Just one more!” Hermione protested, but she couldn’t hide her grin.

As the sun began to set, painting the sky with shades of orange and pink, they finally finished their baking spree. With their sweet creations stored away, they settled down at the kitchen table to enjoy a simple dinner together, discussing Hermione’s plans for the upcoming school year and how much she looked forward to reuniting with her friends.

“I’m really excited about my new classes,” Hermione said, enthusiasm bubbling in her voice. “Especially the Wizarding Society class. It’ll be interesting to learn how things have changed since the war.”

Michael nodded, a thoughtful look on his face. “Change can be a good thing. You’ll bring a fresh perspective to your studies.”

After dinner, they washed the dishes together, the warm atmosphere of the kitchen wrapped around them like a cozy blanket. Once the chores were done, they decided to have a family movie night, a perfect way to unwind after a busy day.

With blankets piled on the couch and bowls of freshly baked cookies in hand, they settled in to watch a light-hearted film. The sound of laughter filled the room, and Hermione felt a sense of peace wash over her. It was moments like these that she cherished the most—simple, joyful times spent with the people she loved.

As the night wore on, Hermione found herself reflecting on how much she would miss this time with her parents. She knew that Hogwarts awaited her, full of new adventures and challenges, but she would always carry the warmth of this day in her heart.

After their delightful movie night, Hermione decided it was time to take the dogs out for a walk. The late summer evening was pleasantly warm, with a gentle breeze rustling through the trees. The sun was beginning to dip below the horizon, casting a golden hue over the landscape.
