THE ENCOMIUM
The Book of Aethya
Chapter 2 THE PROJECT: Verses 2-6
2 THE PROJECT The gods know the intent, making the first creation; thus, the project begins through balance.
2 Liro began his craft by creating a hammer. He used wood for a handle and steel for its head. He already knew its name, for he knew the intent. He then crafted a trusting Erthe with his hammer. Mountains, valleys, and fertile lands were born. He was a builder and would build for his loyalty to his siblings and their intent for eternity.
3Unday began her craft by singing a celebration that brought tears to her eyes. Her tears created the forgiving oceans, seas, rivers, and lakes that gave sources of life to Liro's Erthe. She already knew the words to her song, for she knew the intent. She was a harmonizer, and she would sing for the love of her siblings and the intent they held for eternity.
4Audyra began her craft by dancing to Unday's music. She danced in circles and lines until the heat on her skin and the fire she breathed created the braving sun. She already knew the name, for she knew the intent. She was the warmth that illuminated Liro's Erthe and aided Unday's life source. She was a soloist, and she would dance ambitiously for her siblings and the intent they held for eternity.
5 Zephyrus began his craft by preaching. His breath and words created the encouraging wind that encompassed the Erthe, aiding in the world where life could begin to grow and the structure of the Erthe. He knew what to say, for he knew the intent. He was a leader and preached pridefully for his siblings and the intent they held for eternity.
6Aethya began her craft by helping. She asked Liro to make her a hammer and aided the building. She listened to Unday, which brought tears to Aethya's eyes. She watched Audyra and clapped while demanding an encore. She listened to Zephyrus and praised his word. She knew how to help, for she knew the intent. Aethya was a helper, and she would help her siblings and the intent for as long as balance prevailed.
Delwyn Rockwell, his beloved friend and possibly only friend, is right, and Zephyr knows it. If Aunt Revenna, savior of Caelum and eldest sister to the late king Caelum IV, catches him, he will only be alive due to his lack of siblings and the vacancy on the throne. Since his father and mother died, his aunt Revenna and his father's Viseroy, Bartholomew, have been the closest thing to parents that he's had. And he is thankful for it, no matter how annoying they are.
He should be sitting on that throne with a queen by his side by now, but thanks to his aunt and her guilt trip to the court and nearby courts, he and his kingdom have yet to be hounded. And that is only due to what the kingdom calls 'The Dark Month.' The Kingdom of Caelum was ruled by strong and kind leaders, as kings and queens go. They were adored, and their people suffered a significant loss many winters ago.
They had been slowly losing their king in the months following to a mental illness no doctor could cure. They called it pure madness, and the only reason he wasn't sent to the Hindering House was because he was the king. He died one winter morning, and a few short weeks after, the queen was found by her son, who was the mere age of 12, in the same spot his father died: on the late king's bed. The queen was found with empty bottles of leftover medicine meant for the late king, which had not been properly stored by the royal doctor, scattered across the bed. It was ruled a suicide, though the royal doctor was hung for carelessness, and the kingdom had lost a king, queen, and one of their most skilled and talented doctors. The crown prince of Caelum had lost a mother and father.
After the loss, Revenna and Bartholomew quickly proved valiant leaders as they protected the prince from having to take responsibilities not fit for a 12-year-old and took care of Caelum's people. They have used this to postpone a crowned king ever since. Although Zephyr is nearing 18, soon, the throne won't be able to be ignored much longer. And Zephyr knows the longer he waits, the weaker the kingdom becomes and a bigger target to other courts they grow. But finding a queen and having that ridiculous crown become his to bear is something he selfishly is not ready for.
