Chapter - 4 # Military training, Pokemon tower, origin of team rocket

Under Lt. Surge's mentorship, Red and his Pokémon team train under the veteran's military drills. Pikachu gets the most training out of the group, learning Thunderbolt from the TM Disc Red got, and spends time with Raichu how to master the strong Electric move.

Days later, Lt. Surge takes Red to Route 11 so he and his Pokémon can showcase the results of their training. Due to the training, Red and his Pokémon team are muscular and threatening to all the Trainers on the route. First, Red has Diglett defeat a Youngster's Ekans, while Gloom uses Absorb on a Gambler's Horsea and Poliwag. Then, Clefable Tackles through a Youngster's Sandshrew and Zubat as Geodude takes on the latter's Nidoran Male. After using Rock Throw to defeat the Nidoran Male, Geodude evolves into Gravler and lets Charmeleon have a go.

Charmeleon takes out a group of Magnemites and Magnetons from two Engineers, while a Drowzee appears behind Red. Thinking quickly, Red throws a Poké Ball with enough force to capture the Drowzee without the need to use a Pokémon. As Red looks at his Pokédex, a Gambler takes the opportunity to have his Vulpix attack Charmeleon from behind. However, Pikachu arrives, having mastered Thunderbolt with the help of Raichu, and takes out the Gambler's Pokemon along with several Youngsters' team.

Afterwards, Red and Lt. Surge head to the checkpoint to the east and see a Snorlax sleeping in the middle of the bridge. With the pathway blocked, Lt. Surge shows Red how to get to Lavender Town through Cerulean City. The two walk back to Vermilion City, unaware that a mysterious Pokémon is watching them.

Having placed Drowzee on his team, Red trains the Hypnosis Pokémon on Route 11 and develops a Hypnosis-Dream Eater combo. Going through the Route, Drowzee finds an Escape Rope for Red, but the Red could not store it in his backpack.

"You will have to empty out his backpack for more items," Lt. Surge said.

Red then stores some of them in his PC while giving Pikachu a stat-boosting vitamin.

Later, Lt. Surge takes Red to a local fisherman to receive an Old Rod, but Red finds out he can only catch Magikarp. Lt. Surge continues taking Red around Vermilion City.One day Red met a young girl.

"Hey mister, do you have a Spearow? " she asked.

"Yes, i have," Red said.

"Would you like to trade it for my Farfetch'd? " the girl asked.

Red thinks for moment before agreeing.

He trade his Spearow and get Farfetch'd . Then, Red goes into the Pokémon Fan Club building. There he met the chairman.
