"Heh, you want more food, don’t you? That’s not a problem, but you need to..." The elderly mistress gestured with her hand, indicating that they wanted money.

"Don’t go too far! Prince consort Baili Dongjun is your master how can you refuse to provide food?" Xiao Wu, the servant of Prince Baili Dongjun, responded with frustration.

"Everyone knows that a beloved wife can have whatever he wants, but the prince never looks at him. What do you want from us?"

"You!" Xiao Wu wanted to strike the impudent mistresses, but Baili Dongjun held her back. "Prince consort..."

"Enough, let’s go back," Xiao Wu didn't want to oppose her master as she guided him back, his frail body leaning on her for support. She hoped the servants would take the opportunity to sell some valuables and bring back food for her beloved master, even though she knew they would likely pocket the money. However, she felt helpless because she and her master couldn’t go outside due to Prince Ye’s law.

"Oh, Prince consort" the main wife, San Ling, smiled as she passed by, watching the frail first wife under the care of the servants. In truth, Baili Dongjun was born into an honorable minister’s family, the only child of a high-ranking royal tutor, who secretly loved His Majesty Ye, who was brave and handsome. He received royal favor and became the first wife of the prince, but sadly, fate had its way. Though this handsome man was as beautiful as an angel and soft as silk, he was still a man, and His Majesty don't full in love with him. San Ling is lucky with it.

"Ah!" Dongjun didn’t continue the conversation, he knew that San Ling wanted to provoke and step on him. He chose to leave, but his foot that intended to harm accidentally touched Dongjun's foot, causing his frail body to fall into the lake, even though it is winter.

"Oh no... How can you do this,Your Majesty ? In this winter, we cannot play around!"

"Your Majesty!!" Xiao Wu hurried to help her master, crying and angry, but she felt powerless to help her beloved master.

Seven Days Later

Baili Dongjun's health continued to decline due to lack of food and the cold atmosphere; his clothing was insufficient for warmth. Xiao Wu could no longer bear to see her master suffering and decided to sneak out to inform Baili's family, hoping the royal tutor would come to help.

"You can’t go out."

"I beg you to let me out! My master is suffering terribly, I can’t stand it any longer. Ugh…uh..." Xiao Wu cried and pleaded, but it seemed the guards showed no mercy towards her.

"The prince has come back !" A loud voice from the servant echoed, filling Xiao Wu with a glimmer of hope. Surely, the prince wouldn’t allow the first wife to die, even if he was not fully committed.

Xiao Wu hurried to the prince, but in a hurry the guard misunderstood that she had bad intentions and stabbed her .

"Your Majesty, I humbly apologize for coming from a recent battle. I was afraid you might be in danger, so I acted hastily," the guard said, realizing his mistake in trying to harm her.

"It’s nothing, just a mere servant," the prince replied as he watched Xiao Wu, who had fallen into the icy lake and was gasping for breath.

"Xiao...Xiao Wu!" Tears streamed down Baili Dongjun's face, and he felt a sense of panic. If he had seen Xiao Wu suffer, he would not have been able to bear it.

"Your Majesty... outside... it’s so cold. You should return indoors; I... I beg you..."

"Alright... stop... Sayings" Baili Dongjun spoke to the servant, knowing that Xiao Wu wanted to request him to call a doctor to treat him. But seeing her condition, he was still worried about her health. Baili Dongjun turned to look for Ye dingzhi, then asked him to call the doctor. He could not accept the thought of losing someone as close to him as a sister.

"Call the doctor! Call the doctor! Your Majesty, please..." Baili dongjun

"..." Ye dingzhi did not speak, and only turned to leave. But he had just taken a few steps when the beautiful figure behind him, who appeared lifeless, did not know if it was due to fear or sickness, and blood began to trickle out.

Blood, red as a rose, pooled in his heart, and Baili Dongjun felt numb, losing all feeling.

"That’s too much, you’re so heartless…” Baili Dongjun’s voice was weak, a tremor of pain lacing his words. He pressed a hand to his mouth, but the crimson droplets escaped, staining his pale fingers.

Ye Dingzhi stood frozen, his heart pounding in his chest. He had always viewed Baili Dongjun as nothing more than a delicate flower, but now that flower was wilting before him. Panic twisted in his gut. “Baili, what’s happening to you?”

Ye dingzhi hurried to hold Baili Dongjun’s weakening body but was pushed away.

Baili Dongjun staggered forward, and Xiao Wu saw that she had breathed her last. Baili Dongjun’s heart was struck hard, and he felt blood trickle from his lips again.
“Baili! No!” Ye Dingzhi’s voice pierced through the fog of despair enveloping him. He rushed to his side, urgency lacing his tone as he called for the royal physician, his heart racing in sync with the panic in his chest, Kneeling beside Baili, Ye Dingzhi lifted him with surprising tenderness, his strong arms cradling the fragile prince against his chest. It was a stark contrast to the expected indifference of a royal. “Stay with me, Baili. Focus on my voice,” he urged, his brow furrowing with concern.
