We see Liam & the group on the way to Cerulean City after a journey through Mt. Moon which saw Brock capture a Zubat & Liam having caught a Sandshrew along with his Pidgey evolving into Pidgeotto

The group is now on the road to Cerulean City so that Ash & Liam can challenge for the Cascade Badge
Ash: it's such a nice and sunny day out
Liam: days like this make you just wanna sit and enjoy it
Brock: yeah while you two enjoy the sun Gary is out there catching more pokemon
This made Ash & Liam stop for a moment before realizing Brock was right
Brock: of course I guess a pokemon trainer could catch pokemon and enjoy the sun
???: hey wait up
Turning around the group noticed Misty running towards them who had been acting weird ever since leaving Mt. Moon
Misty: where do you think you're going?
Ash: Cerulean City
Misty: Ah! Cerulean City!? What are you going there for!?
Liam: our next gym badge Misty
Misty: you guys don't want pokemon from there trust me
Ash: why not
Misty: because they're all...
Liam: all what
Misty: very scary ghost pokemon that look like this
She begins stretching her face trying to seem scary
Misty: like monsters
Ash then just laughs in her face
Ash: that's a good one Misty. Let's go Brock, Liam, & Pikachu
The four of them turn around and begin walking away from Misty who runs in front of them trying to stop them
Misty: hang on a second why not Vermillion City. It's right on the water and there are lots of neat pokemon and you can watch all the yachts pull into the harbor. Plus there's a little park way up on a hill where you can sit and watch the sunset isn't it just romantic
Brock, Ash, & Liam just shared looks between the three of them
Misty: it's much nicer than that old Cerulean City so let's get going!
Ash: ok let's go
Misty: Really?
Ash: to Cerulean City
Misty just face planted into the ground as Liam followed behind Ash & Brock while he talked to Eve
Liam: do you know what that was about?
Eve: Eev-Eevee (nope)
Eve said while shaking her head
Liam: yeah me neither
Eventually Ash, Liam, & Brock made it to Cerulean City
Liam: so this is Cerulean City?
Brock: pretty nice place isn't it
Ash looked behind them and noticed someone missing
Ash: hey check it out Misty's not following us anymore
