(Flashback)

Me and A'ja pulled up to the teams facility and seen Jackie, Kelsey, and Chelsea also here themselves. "I thought Becky only called you in?" I asked A'ja confused. "I thought so to but it looks like she called them in as well" she responded equally confused. "I'll be waiting on you out here for you then baby" I said as she unbuckled herself. "Ok i'll see you in a little bit I love you" she said leaning over and placing a kiss on my lips. "I love you too" I said smiling as she pulled away closing the door and walking in with her teammates. 

A'ja Pov

"Hey ya'll Beck called you guys in to?" I asked the 3 and we walked down the hall. "Yeah I thought it was just going to be me here until I seen Jackie pull up after me" Kelsey said shrugging her shoulders. "I wonder what she could want..." I said lowly more towards myself. We walked into the gym and seen Becky there at the door ushering us in. "Come on in ya'll quit acting all scared" she said laughing. We all had a look of confusion and uneasiness plastered all over all of our faces. 

When we walked in we looked to our left and seen one of the representatives from team USA start walking towards us. I've been in this position before and I already have a feeling of what's about to happen. "Hey...." Heyyyy" we all said slowly and chuckling nervously to ourselves. "Hey everybody on behalf of the board or directors and the women's national team committee we would like to invite  you to be a member of the 2024 women's Olympic team" she finished smiling. 

"A-ahhhhh!" I said geeked clapping to myself with a big smile on my face. "Congratulations!" Becky said as me and my teammates came together in a group hug jumping up and down in excitement. We pulled away from the group hug but I seen Kelsey needed another one. I brought her into my hold and held her as she cried tears of joy into my chest. "You did it big dawg you got your jersey" I said patting her back as I rocked her side to side. 

I pulled away and brought Jackie into a hug as well. I wrapped my arms around her shoulders hugging her as she cried silently. Jackie never cries its a rare sight to see, so for her to cry just made me start crying myself. I hate to admit it but I am a true crybaby at heart. I'll cry over the littlest things or even if I just see someone else crying. The representative handed us our jerseys and I held mines up feeling tears well up in my eyes from the sight. 

I know this isn't my first time being picked to play for the USA national team, but it will still never feel real everytime I get picked. I grabbed my phone and facetimed Y/n waiting on her to answer the phone. When the phone finally connected I wasted no time in telling her. "Bae come into the gym right now please" I said as the joyful tears just kept rolling down my face. "What's wrong baby? I'm on my way right now here I come" she said getting out of the car and hanging up on me. 

Y/n Pov

I quickly ran into the gym looking around and seeing A'ja holding up her USA jersey with a big smile and stained cheeks from her tears. My eyes popped open and my jaw dropped as I started to connect the dots. I ran up to her picking her up swiftly as she wrapped her legs around my waist hugging my neck as she giggled into my neck. "You did it baby!" I yelled out as I spun her around like she was a toddler. "I know baby I know.." she said sniffling in my ear.

She pulled her face from out of my neck and cupped my cheeks placing a long tender kiss on my lips. I could taste the slight salty taste on my lips from her joyful tears. We both smiled into the kiss feeling nothing but happiness from the moment we shared. "I'm so proud of you mama" I said as we rested our foreheads against each others. "Thank you bub" she said with a smile still prominent on her face.
